DJs who talk over the end of songs. Not very ranty.

you're quietly indulging in a guilty pleasure - a Yorkie, a doughnut, a glass of wine - and, without a doubt, the best bit is anticipation of the last morsel/drop, and enjoying it, a fitting finale to your little treat.

Music is like that...the last few lyrics, notes or chords after a wonderful song are like a warm blanket to cuddle under, a musical moment to savour, as those remaining embers that just gave you a warm glow for three minutes, slowly fade. And what does that ba5tardo of a DJ do? That's right. Talks all over the end, thoughtlessly stamping on and stamping out those gentle embers, just as you want to cozy in around them. I think it's time for a campaign to fire any DJ that talks over the end of any song. Agree? Sign here

Ever since the end of Mark & Lard, I would say that every radio show would be vastly improved by the DJ not talking at all.

agree 100%. Music, news every hour, jingle once or twice, job done.

On the radio today, Zoe Ball. An instantly better option was to drive into a tree at speed.

I think they call themselves 'presenters' now, and usually come in packs of two or more ("posse" )
DJs these days seem to alternate between 'creating' 'mixes' in their 'studios' and playing them 'out' to large inebriated late-night audiences.

(allegedly )

for music i only listen to bbc6music, never "hits" stations. It seems to be free of presenters/djs who think they are more important than the music they play. A whole station based on the spirit of John Peel.
i do have to suffer radio2 at work though ...not as bad though as local commercial crap!!
radio is just background noise for alot of people i think so as long as they hear some familiar songs they don't care if something gets cut short for the next advert/link/news/jingle.

It gets me, the stations that cut half the song out to squeeze it in between their endless drivel.

Then all the competitions where you are reminded about all the rules every half hour until you end up shouting at the radio..
I often hop between stations now, kind of freshens up my listening and keeps me about half awake

Don't have this problem with Radio 4.

I only ever listen to Radio 4 so this doesn't affect me unless listening to Desert Island Discs, and that's Kirsty Young who I can pretty much forgive anything.

Music is on disc in the Skoda or USB in the Spider, interrupted only by my own attempts at harmonious accompaniment.

Incidentally, if you haven't indulged in Elbow's new album, you really should.
