....... is a song by Leonard Cohen. The words are great and I personally think that Rufus Wainwright nails it:-
This is not my rant though - what I have seen recently is children on the internet singing this song and everyone thinking it is so nice. They even change the words and say "Leonard Cohen would love this" - I seriously doubt it - he would laugh maybe.
It isn't NICE - just listen to the words ffs.
"Maybe there's a God above
But all I ever learned from love
Is how to shoot at someone who outdrew you"
"She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah"
My point? Doesn't anyone actually listen to lyrics? This is not a nice happy song which we all think is great because of the tune.
It sure as hell isn't some nice religious hymn which we see our children (view YouTube) sing and think - "aaahhh lovely".
