As one whose work involves a lot of lifting and bending (and I am nearly 54) and who occasionally gets a bad back as a result, the BEST advice is as follows.
Take pain killers in moderation to help you sleep, and continue life as normal..taking it fairly gently. The back will slowly but surely sort itself out. IMHO Chiropractors and the like do as much harm as good, unless you have a diganosed back deformity, or a slipped disc.
Gentle exercising and stretching will also help..but keep it gentle.
