Thumbs Down owner/operator responses to feedback

I was looking for a holiday cottage, and this exchange put me off.

We had a very enjoyable stay. A lovely house/cottage, well kept and nicely furnished. Well appointed and had everything we needed. Excellent location for exploring this part of Yorkshire. Only criticism being that the arrival information could have been clearer, ie. How to locate the parking at the rear of the house and the name of the house/cottage. Fortunately we were able to recognise the cottage from the photo on the website.

Owner's Response: There is a large oval sign to the right of the gate on the front of the cottage that says Virginia Cottage. With regard to the directions it clearly states on the booking confirmation that to access the parking to the rear of the cottage you turn right by Mathewsons vintage car garage and our rear entrance is on the right. It's a tiny village!!!

That just makes me think................ersehole! Gonna give that one a swerve.

I see this all the time. Crackers.

I agree, the owner should have finished of with "fcukwit"

That would have sold it for me.

Nice place Pickering.

You are being ironic, right? You don't have a beef with the owner, but the guests who couldn't see a tree if it hit them. Subilties are lost on me

Sorry but I don't get it.

Was there a large oval sign near the gate?

Did the booking confirmation give directions?

If so then ???????

Sounds like a win-win, the owners get paid AND get to slag off the visitors, the whinging holidaymakers get to whinge.

The owners only had to say "oh, sorry you had a problem.......we'll have a look at the directions for future guests. Glad you had a pleasant stay, come back again".

Even if they meant not a word.

I love reading some of these exchanges, especially when the customer is completely caught bull****ting. A local restaurant is great for that

In this situation I think they could have done as Elvis suggests while still commenting that the customer may have been a moron, if they didnt mention anything other customers may have been put off thinking it was a really awkward place to get to

I feel rather more sympathetic to the owners too - I've frequently given clear directions to people as to our location, only for them to completely ignore what I said and ring up saying "where are you, I've lost the directions"...

Winds me up - if all else fails, follow the ****ing directions!

Nothing Italian

True but a public response should be crafted.

They could have said sorry you found it difficult to find the parking. We will consider changing our booking confirmation to highlight the parking directions in bold type plus add a reminder in our final email communications. Thank your for bringing this to our attention.

Morons need showing up for what they are.
Morons are everywhere making this crap up. You only need to look at any review on Amazon to spot them. You can be looking for a drill and there it is.........the review of a moron. "This drill is rubbish. It went straight through the wall into my water pipe"
The response of the owner in the OP has the opposite effect on me. It shows me he/she is a stand up guy. Doesn't take any shizz and is going to be honest and true. Good on them for spotting the moron. Makes me want to book a week there. Only put off as it looks difficult to find.........

Sent from my armchair using Whogivesa****

I don't think some of them actually read reviews.

Reviewing a crap hotel on Trip Advisor, I noticed that they just had stock replies to every review, good or bad, so in my last paragraph I quoted verbatim the first sentence of the reply I knew I'd get.

Hook, line & sinker!

look for "Dave B" to see my review.
