Longer trip smooth road vs. Shorter trip bumpy road

Ciao all,

Back to school math-type questions...

I have two possible routes to work everyday for the same amount of time:
- 33km out of which 29km is smooth freeway
- 25km out of which 8km is bumpy road and cobblestones, and 17km is "overpass bumpy"-style freeway

Which daily trip would be least detrimental to my car in terms of aging? All ideas welcome.

Longer and smoother. Acceleration and braking causes more wear than miles travelled at a steady pace I reckon..

Is the freeway free flowing or like the Glasgow area motorways a BIG traffic jam at peak times.

Pierre ,Yours was an arithmetic question

my input now makes it a maths problem.

Re: Longer trip smooth road vs. Shorter trip bumpy road

I start my workday at 7:30am, so yes, it's fairly free-flowing.

Well it's decided then, longer and smoother. Just the way life should be in the first place!
