Spooky Stuff.....

Ok it's that spooky halloween time of year again (Scary stuff, I LOVE IT!!!!) so I thought I'd post a suitably themed poll.

Have you, or anyone you know seen, witnessed or heard first hand from a reputable source about a sighting of a ghost or other paranormal event?

And what was that experience?

Re: Spooky Stuff.....

I'll kick us off here. I was always sceptical about the paranormal, thought it was mentalists thinking they saw something, or attantion seeking, until one night when my wife and I stayed in an old hotel on holiday in Wales.
I woke one night, feeling a bit cold, I looked around the room, as you do, and in the corner of the room, sitting down was the soft figure of gentleman wearing those old victorian era clothes, with the big ruff colour and that get up.
He didn't look at me or do anything, just sat there staring ahead.

I turned and prodded the wife, who woke up, but when I turned around he'd gone, although upon investigation that corner of the room was still very cold, noticably colder than the rest of the room.

So the next day I spoke to the girl on reception if there had ever been anything 'odd' reported in that particular room (I didn't go into any details at all) and she was surprisingly chipper and upbeat.

'Oh yeah' she said 'we quite often get guests telling us about the ghost sitting in the corner by the window'

I'm a pure sceptic...

Can't stand those parasite TV mediums though.
They should be dragged into an alley one by one

Re: Spooky Stuff.....

A couple of people I know have had spooky experiences, although both are still quite sceptical about what it was they experienced...

My wife used to live in this flat. Once her and her flat mate so someone walk past the window, although they were 3 floors up, and on another occassion Sue woke and momentarily saw a woman standing over her offering her a cup of tea...

A friend of mine came to stay, and sleapt in the living room. He was woken by something putting the pillow over his face...

Re: Spooky Stuff.....

Fraser and I's mum does seem to be quite sensitive to these things. In the house that we were born in things were heard and moved. On one occasion a whole pile of washing was taken off the dryer and folded neatly, but was still dripping wet. An other time My mum felt so freaked that she went down stairs to our nieghbours house. Both she and the nieghbour could hear footsteps quite clearly from the floor above
Mum has met some Ghosts as well. We used to stay in an Hotel called the 'Three Kings' hotel on holiday. Itwas pretty much free board for us as we were very friendly with the owner and used to help out. we were all off with the owner one day, leaving Mum to do some work for him in one of the bars when a man appeared at the door of the bar asking if Alec, the owner, was in. My mum thought nothing of this and explained that he was out, but would be back later. The man thanked her and walked away before she got a chance to ask his name, so, she went after him, but he'd disapeared. The outer doors to the hotel were locked and the bar was through the main lounge and down stairs. the back door was also locked

Re: Spooky Stuff.....

Well I voted for 'Something Else'.

On the whole I'm sceptical - but at the same time I try and keep an open mind.

I believe many could be optical illusions or 'dreams' when people are half awake.

I think it depends what you mean by 'ghost' as I'm prepared to believe that a persons electro-magnetic field could get 'recorded' in someway and hence played back in the right conditions; but this would mean that the 'ghost' is merely a recording and would not re-act with the modern day environment.

However, that recent thing at Hampton Court was quite intriguing - what ever happened about that?

Sorry, I agree with Nev on that one. Jonny Depp is a more convincing Elizabeathan than old fancy drawers there.

I often wonder why it happens to some people and not others, but no, in our family, so far, no sightings.

It was a security camera that picked it up IIRC and was in all the papers at the time. There was some debate as to whether it could have been one of the people who show you around; but apparently it doesn't have a face and no=one was there at the time it was shot

Total unbeliever, matter of fact guy, who regards it as a complete, and utter load of 'cobblers'. Bring on the ghosts, demons, bats, witches, creepie crawlies, let me re-cycle 'Em!

The Mysterons from Mars could interact in the (future) modern day environment!

Sorry Kev. Still a bit bemused as to why a ghost of phneffhundred years ago would be using modern fire escape push bars to close a door?

It is a genuine load of old cobblers.

When I'm dead, recycle me immediately or I'll come back and haunt you.
