It's only good for surfacing driveways, sticking bricks together, or holding fence posts up.

Nasty stuff.

S'very good for you y'know. Lowers cholesterol as well as being a good low-fat energy source. So to the nay-sayers.

Sometimes sugar, sometimes cinnamon. Sometimes cinnamon and flaked almonds. Yum.

I think being forced to eat porridge at school has tarnished the appeal somewhat for me!

Re: Salt or Sugar

maple syrup, accept no substitute. porridge is incredibly good for you, but that's not why the scots eat it - they eat it cos it costs about 3p per ton

Re: Salt or Sugar

I make porridge with a 50:50 milk/water ratio, add a pinch of salt and .. with sugar sprinkled on..probably a tad too much of the stuff (but i don't take it in tea or coffee so I am compensating perhaps)

Now to make you squirm...I also eat porridge oats raw with a bit of milk and sugar now and again.....luv it.

And I love flapjack as long as its home made. The bought stuff is usually dire.

I do almost exactly the same
I make mine equal parts porridge/water/milk (good oats, full fat milk) with a generous sprinkling of salt in the pan. No sugar.

Done the raw prridge thing often ever since I was a kid, and flapjacks well they're just awesome.
