Hmmm ID-Tag Chip

Would you ever consider/agree to be ID chipped like a dog/cow/sheep?

(To be clear, we are talking subcutaneous implant here.)

Not ID chipped but it could be handy to pay for goods with the swipe of the hand or keyless car entry and start, amongst many possibilities.

If everyone had chip implants in their hands, it would make the secret handshake rather interesting.

You could have the implant in your right hand to determine friend or foe (which actually, was pretty well what a handshake was originally for, to show you have no weapon).

Then, if the hand says foe (geddit?), you can punch their lights out with a left hook .

Referring to the OP, I guess on the face of it, it's no different from having to carry an ID Card around with you. It would just always be with you.

Of course in reality (and in the inevitable resulting sci-fi films), the baddies would corrupt your chip (either by close proximity or by WiFi) and all sorts of nasty things could happen to you. And all sorts of information could be already on the chip, which you would have no idea of.

So I guess no, a chip implant would not be a good idea.

No!

99.999% of people cannot even begin to comprehend how much of their life is tracked or linked and how insecure the vast majority of it is. As the sheep rush to control their heat/light/bills/social life etc. via the Interbez the whole scope of their existence is opened up to the rest of the world.

Yoofs today, no imagination.

Hack your moby, get your debit card details. Stalk you on faecesbook, know when you are out of your house/on holiday/at the pub and, from the geo tagging, how long it would take you to get back while the place is being burgled. Do the same with your heating/lighting controls, hack your 'smart' meter to run up your bill. Pass on your medical details to your insurance company to get you rated/declined, disclose your penicillin prescriptions to your significant other to undermine your personal life. Change the mileage on your 159 to 685,232 etc. etc.

No 2 on the Git list

Are you folding?
