The headlight poll!

So, what do we all do for light at night?

Some seem to think Alfa lights in general are utter pants, but what is the general opinion??

Re: The headlight poll!

Alfa light are designed to look good on the car.

Whether they actually illuminate anything
is a secondary or even third order consideration.

Re: The headlight poll!

Standard lights on mine, I'm reasonable happy with them, the main beam is the best I've had on any car so far but the dipped beam could be a fair bit better, so I'm upgrading to the Philips wotsit thingy super +3,000,000 bulbs soon (as soon as i can be bothered).

Re: The headlight poll!

I use my foglights when I need the main lights only. The standard lights are pants on the GT. Front fogs give a little wider lights spread (and confidence!!).

I too will get the latest super-duper-billion candle wotsit when I can be bothered - which is more than likely at the next service.

Re: The headlight poll!

Standard lights and bulbs at the mo, wouldn't mind upgraging to plane landing light strength bulbs sometime soon, and going for the 159 look with the lights internals... darkened, mmmmm

Re: The headlight poll!

Here's a thing that's not often mentioned - the 159 standard lights are absolutely superb. I even thought for a while that when they were on high beam the "looked" round corners. They don't, it's just the lenses are fantastic. I really don't think the HIDs are required on the 159.

Complete contrast to the 166 ligts which must have been barely legal.

Re: The headlight poll!

I did buy some super-duper bulbs from Halfords, but my fingers are 3 inches too short to fit them. It once took me an hour to change the sidelight bulb on my '01 model 156, so I'll just eat lots of carrots & hope for the best!

I found the lights on my old 156 rubbish, but great on the 147

Re: The headlight poll!

I hate these super hi density blind you from 3 miles away bulbs, and I'm not going to put them on my car just because everyone else has them.

IMO they are far too bright and should be banned, a huge distraction when someone is in your mirrors blinding you.

Re: The headlight poll!

The standard lights are not so hot. I noticed especially driving in the dark when it is raining.

I will upgrade to better bulbs soon. I don't agree with HID's as they usually annoy other drivers.

I use the standard lights but with "white" bulbs (same wattage as standard).

Hmm I find the full beams are okay (apart from you can't change
the bleeding bulbs ) but the dipped ones are still a bit weedy.

My little lights are fine - after all, if they were brighter, I'd get too many moths plastered all over my bonnet.

If moths are attracted to the light, then why do they come out at night ?

Even tried high lumins lights in mine - made the lit areas brighter but didn't extend the lit distance or width, surprise surprise.

Wow! How did you manage to change it that quickly? You must have had plenty of practice.
