Garage?

Do you own a garage? And if so do you use it as intended?

Re: Garage?

I have a garage but couldn't get the car in if I tried. Not because it's full of junk (although it is) but because it's built for an "average family car" according to the builder. Well, my 145 fitted in but you couldn't get the doors open. Sheona's Fiat Cinquicento fitted in OK as does her Picanto; ergo, your "average family car" is of cinquicento/picanto dimensions.

Same for me - it can only just accommodate a Ka, and even then you need to be careful getting out.

Re: Garage?

Yes I have a garage and I keep my cars in it. I never understand why people with garages leave their cars (probably their second most expensive purchase) outside

I don't own a garage but my drive is long enough for two proper sized cars.

I thought you'd beam them up to the mothership when you're not driving them?

Re: Garage?

Don't have one as I live in a flat. However it does have security gates and radio key entry. Makes you feel a bit special to know its all safe!

Re: Garage?

I do have a grage, and I do keep the car in it, but i'm thinking more and more about demoting the car to the driveway so I can build my long desired slot car track in the garage instead

In the 'old' days i think garages were used more as cars were a lot less reliable and used to rust and needed to be kept dry etc. They were also easier to break into. these days i think they only add them to houses as it bumps up the price, but clearly judging by the size that are simply very expensive sheds!

We had a garage but knocked it down cos it was in the back garden. The space is now our Patio.

Re: Garage?

Car always goes in the garage. Has to be pretty tight against the wall at the passenger side, and the driver's door doesn't open all the way, but it can be done.

Perhaps they (like I have) have collections or hobbies which total more than the value of their car....

Re: Garage?

I currently cannot get a car in my garage due to it being used to store some furniture for a friend. In the past, I have kept my car in it. Especially the Montreal which lived in there for 5 years The garage is quite narrow but if you pull in quite tight to the passenger side, you can half open a door to let yourself out. Although I did have to get out of the sunroof when I parked a Saab 9000 in there once

Re: Garage?

Why is it that new houses have garages you could just squeeze a bubble car into .... my mates place has a garage so narrow, you could probably get an MG Midget in there but only on its side ....

Actually I have a double garage but half is full of junk and space for one car. Luckily there's a sort of car port as well so both cars are under cover, just one is open front and back. Depends on how I feel and whether I am going out early as to which car is in the garage ... Alfa or Pug.

But you have reminded me to sort out the bl**dy mess!

cheers, Gary

Apparently new houses must have sufficient parking for 2.2 cars. The garage is for the 0.2 of a car.

Just in case you think I'm kidding: http://www.spelthorne.gov.uk/print/e...de_parking.htm

Re: Garage?
