I've always had a thing for Lancia and am looking forward to their return. Just curious to know what you lot would do...

Have to have chains, or belts that require less frequent attention.:

Re: Lancia 2009

I like Lancias, so I'd buy one if they made a car I liked. But since they seem to be Fiat's "luxury" brand, I can't see them making anything to tempt me.

Re: Lancia 2009

Definitely if they had something that appealled.

But as others say, that's maybe unlikely with their current model range. Maybe the 'luxury Fiat' idea makes sense as we get more and more cameras on the roads, and emissions-based congestion charging and everything, so we're less and less able to use a performance car. Perhaps it will come down to which box is nicest to sit in. Hope not.

Re: Lancia 2009

Liked a lot of Lancias in the past and my first experience of an Itlaian car was my Dad's Beta saloon. Contrary to popular understanding the car was bombproof and absolsutely spotless.

My only problem is since the Ypsilon I've thought they were pretty ugly cars - although the new Fulvia looks well . I'll see what they're like when they return.

How about these?

...and check out the engines, they still offer a V6 with 'ventricles', a la Clarkson (unlike Alfa, who have come over all teutonic under Heinz Kalbfell's teutelage).

Re: Lancia 2009

i'd have one in a heart beat! i'll be looking to change my Mondeo (oops sorry for the bad language!) in 2009, and am strongly considering the new Delta once its like the concept thats doing the rounds! I've always loved Lancia's & because they pulled out in 1994 never got a chance to own one, but when they come back to Ireland, they'll have a very strong chance of getting my money, i personally can't wait!

no, thankfully not a rumour at all, Lancia will indeed return in 2009, after launching the Delta in Italy & mainland Europe in 2008. The Delta has been engineered for RHD production

Initally the Delta will be their only offering, as far as i'm aware they will be sold in Alfa dealerships in the UK (not sure about ireland). The Delta is based on the sexy Fiat Bravo, and its engines should range from 120bhp to "more than" 200bhp.

After that we should see the Fulvia coupe (when they eventually get around to producing it). Before that happens we'll see a new Ypsilon supermini & a rival to the Nissan Qashqai

The return is all part of Fiat Group's target to get Lancia selling 300,000 per year

Re: Lancia 2009

If they do a two litre with the performance/reliability my Thema 16v Turbo had, plus it's comfort, and some, they could appeal once more to a select audience who want something a little different, but reliable?:

funnily enough, in every customer satisfaction survey done in europe, Lancia always out performs Alfa & Fiat, and in one last year in Germany, they outperformed Mercedes-Benz, so reliability & the service you get shouldn't be a problem

Apparently Lancia will be offering a sort of premier ownership experience/packages to make life easier

Re: Lancia 2009

The new Y is possibly the classiest super-mini on the road in recon!

Im not sure about the looks of the upcoming Delta yet but its only in prototype form at the moment. Lancia say they are going to build a coupe, and id be very interested if they take some design cues from the new Fulvia prototype.

Maybe (if I were based in the UK), though probably I'd consider it more as a second car for Mrs BF.

Don't like the Thema - Looks like a Rover from the side and something else entirely from the front.

funny u should say that, i've had two people say my 164 looked like a Rover (i've not spoken to them since!)

oh yeah...its funny because the Thema/164/Croma/9000 were all built on the same platform! (ok maybe not funny in the true sense of the word, but interesting-maybe)
