Ghost in the Shell: would you be one?

I've been reading in cyberpunk fiction about people who continue to live after their body has physically died either as computer programs ("uploaded minds"), as cyborgs with replaceable mechanical bodies but the brain still intact or even within "shells", totally mechanical bodies without any biological material left but with the necessary interface to interact with the human soul (ghost).

Let's assume that this was proven to be somehow feasible and without the philosophical paradoxes and ethical dilemmas that emerge for some scenarios, e.g. "copy instead of move" like in cloning. Would you consider doing this transition after (or even before) your body dies in order to continue life?

Re: Ghost in the Shell: would you be one?

ooh, good one.

I think that once you cark-it, that should be
it. But it would be a pretty good adventure.

Maybe you'd lose too much of your "humanity" though.

Food for thought ...

No. I think there may be some truth in the theory that we are already living in pergatory, why would I want to extend it I'm quite happy to leve as many bit's may be usefull to others, but not ME

I said NO at the start, but can you select a body to return in?

Re: Ghost in the Shell: would you be one?

Sure, as long as it is mechanical. For option 1 you could probably preselect the body before your biological death and then ideally change parts of it or even the whole body.

Note the hypothesis that in all cases the entity would still be you, not some other "person" with your character and memories.

Option 5 is obviously humouristic although I see that some people have voted it.

I have an original print 1985 2000 AD comic with Rouge Trooper in it. Worth a load on today's nerdy comic scene according to a fiend whose into stuff like that.

If you've died young or with unfinished business, yes. For the vast majority of us who will live into old age, no you'd probably have had enough in one life time!!

Wasn't "Rouge Trooper" created from discarded ladies' lipstick tubes?

But.. aye! I'd love to have a Cyborg body as long as it was me inside it. I'd be a demon shagger, if I had a bionic knob.
