Old computer, chuck it or keep it
For the past few years my mum has been asking me if she can throw out an old computer of mine, I kept telling her I wanted to check first if there was anything on it I needed to copy, and so it has been sitting on the floor of her spare rooms for ages.
She finally cracked and threatened to chuck it out, so I have taken it into work today,
It's a Highscreen 486 SX 33, bought in 1994 with my year out savings,
The big question is, should I throw it out, or keep it? There is no real reason to keep it, but it was great fun looking through the stuff on it this morning, the old games, golf, gp, rac rally, doom, lemmings, sim city, etc, my dissertation (which may as well have been in Mandarin for all I could understand), or the stuff like the spreadsheet which would print out your National Lottery slip for you, (to save you having cross out 6 whole numbers yourself).
Throwing it out would feel like throwing away a photo album, plus how cruel would it be, it's 13 years old and turned on straight away this morning, surely that sort of resolve needs rewarding, not getting squashed by a large digger.
What should I do?
and how could I explain it to Jacqs if I want to keep it?
