What - no Alfa!!

If Alfa went bust or something (and lets face it, it might happen) what manufacturer's cars do you think you'd buy instead?

Re: What - no Alfa!!

If Alfa goes bust, the second hand Alfas don't disappear. I probably would try to find a 156 GTA to keep .. like .. for ever

Re: What - no Alfa!!

Assuming that i have some money left after purchasing and finding house room for all my favourite Alfa's (mine, montreal, couple of others)

i think a Mitsubishi would be the one, mind you i can see the Subaru parallel (they do what they like) but remember, their sister company used to have very close links with alfa and they could have ended up working together if they had both thought about the Arna a little more (yes i am talking about Nissan - both them & Subaru are part of Fuji heavy Industries) and an Xtrail has a hint of Matta about it

We have no plan, therefore nothing can go wrong (much)

And i Have finally put piccies of the silver one on!!

Re: What - no Alfa!!

My neighbour has a new Subaru and it looks like a girls car now. It's lost all the presence it used to have when it dominated rallying. Like for like i'd go for the Seat.

Watching the Tour de france at the mo. Those guy are super human!!!

See Hans has the right idea, I'd be trawling for 147 GTA's on the cheap fully loaded with every extra you can get. Somehting to cherish and look after, a real future classic.

Re: What - no Alfa!!

that would be tragic!
I'd probably go 'revival'...

Alfa clearly (duetto)
Fiat (still like the Coupe)
Lancia (Fulvia, Integrale, Montecarlo)
Maserati or Ferrari (if I ever get a pay-rise... you can take away an F355 for 35k)
TVR (power!)
Lotus Elise (corners!)
the really nice and old Merc convertibles.
BMW, no thanks! boooring!

... or a Mustang! or a Corvette!

Re: What - no Alfa!!

Personally I think I\m attracted to more 'niche' manufacters - so I'd consider Saab, Seat and Mazda.

However, as I'm also getting older I'd also consider Audi/VW (at least go for a test drive) and Jag (except I do think the X type is getting long in the tooth and needs replacing) and Ford.

The problem is that I don't really see any of these really 'doing-it' for me in the same way Alfa does.

But my realy realy REALY biggest concern is that the new Alfa 159 may not 'do-it' for me in the same way my 156 (or even my previous 155) does

So its don't know at the moment; which equals an 'Other' vote

I test drove a SAAB 93, Jag X type and Audi Avant the day I ordered my still to be delivered 159. I hated all of them - but then I drove the 159 first!

I had a Mazda last - really reliable if a but plasticy (is that a word?)
