I think the 159 and Brera are fantastic looking cars. But when I replaced my 155 with my 156 it was an obvious choice - stunning looks, charasmatic, revvy engine, significantly better perfromance, better handling, chuckability.
When I heard the 159 was going to have 4wd and 68bhp more I thought great - I wasn't expecting it to be as fast as a GTA, but I did think there would be an inprovement over my 156.
I also hoped they would continue to keep the 159 approx £2-3k below the price of the competition i.e. priced at the same level of the Mazda 6 MPS.
Alas, it doesn't seem to be the case. I'm still waiting for a test drive, but the Autocar test shows the Brera to be significantly heavier then what Alfa claim and SLOWER than my 156!!!
. The competitive price has now gone (at least for the 3.2Q4) and from what I read the V6 engine, apart from looking nothing special, is no longer special to rev.
I just can't help thinking in their aim to try and compete with Audi etc Alfa have taken their eye of the ball and forgotten why most of their existing cutomers bought Alfa's in the 1st place.
So yes - at the moment I'm disappointed
