Now, probably, but I have a soft spot for 30s cars, especially Alfa - the difference being that very few could have owned one. Thinking about it, if you owned one of the "star" cars from any era you'd probably think that was the best. The golden age for cars was probably any time before the introduction of speed limits, heavy traffic, gatsos, environmental levies, and the rest. An 8c at 150mph down a metalled road must have been quite a blast.
Did anyone think growing up that cars would be vastly faster by now ? With all the bluebirds breaking records, and the jet cars, I'd have put speeds in F1 at somewhere in 4 figures, rather than staying fairly constant at Cosworth v8 sort of speeds. Same with Le Mans, which was starting to nudge past 250 30 or more years ago.
