undrivable

How many days in 2005 was your Alfa in an undrivable state?

Meaning how many days it was under repairs so that it couldn't been driven...

if you have several alfas, calculate an avarage

P.S. Project cars not included!

Re: undrivable

Voted other since for most of 2005 I had the Coupe. Alfa and Coupe combined though were undriveable for a grand total of 30 minutes during 2005. That was when the Coupe wouldn't start one morning, turned out to be flooded, probably due to me having started it up to move it a very short distance and shut off again straight away, then leaving it to stew for 2 days before trying to start again. Naughty boy.

Re: undrivable

Not a day in 2005, but in 2004 had some girl drive into the side of it, so lost it for about 2 weeks

Re: undrivable

Lost it for a day last year when a CV joint gave up,got to float about in a Rover 214 for a few hours

That aside its been fine......pretty good considering some of the "my GTV is a money pit" stories that seem so common?

Re: undrivable

Probably about 5 days in total, mainly 'cos I'm tight fisted and do everything myself instead of getting someone far more competent to do it in half the time

Yeah, I used to do that, changing, in that if its a car I relie on then I get the pros to do it, if its something that doesnt have a time limit or dont need, I do it myself, hense today my car is in Gonellas today for a full belt and tensioner change - money money

Re: undrivable

undriveable covers a multitude. Mine have variously been waiting for things to be attended to, but few enough show stoppers...

Re: undrivable

Usually waiting for parts... missed a few weeks waiting for a brake pipe to arrive before getting bored and fitting a copper one.

Re: undrivable

I think all in all about 3 weeks. ALL for the 156
Gearbox.
Brakes.
Suspension.
Turbo.
Oil hose bursting...etc etc etc

Not good - even if its all covered under warranty.

Zero probs with the Spider or 166 tho

Re: undrivable

Two weeks for me. A radiator hose split on the TSpark. Luckily Alfa put the replacement hose on an 'emergency car is undriveable' rush the part type thingy, so they only took a week to deliver the hose. Which of course was wrong. So it was sent back and replaced with exactly the same one, which was sent back again and finally replaced with the correct hose.

As all of this took two weeks, so I'm glad my car's usually so reliable.

Re: undrivable

The only problems i've had with my Alfa in 2005 were a dying 3rd gear synchromesh and door seals that made the doors rattle. The latter took an hour to fix and the former a day, but it was combined with a quickshift conversion so i cannot call it a "repair" completely.

I think it is good practice to make a small mod everytime you have to make a serious repair, it makes you feel that your money was not totally wasted.
