The majority of eggs I eat are in an Omelete - so I voted other.

Otherwise I like them poached

Hmmm Re: how do you like your eggs cooked

I have to admit I prefer scrambled eggs, but as the old addage says "I can't make them like my mother" I use egg/milk/butter and salt, and they turn out nice, which is the same as my mum used to make them, but still, I can't get mine to taste the same

Depends on my mood, I like all the options at different times. Apart from boiled, which I never like.

Nope, not even then. Well I don't mind it, but with a choice of poached, scrambled or fried, why bother?

I agree the best is a 'runny' egg sandwitch or bread roll. Half of the fun is guessing if it's going to end up in your mouth or down your front!!

It's where you flip the fried egg over for a few seconds
before you serve it. Keeps the yolk in a nice little "pocket".

mmmmmmmmm

Re: how do you like your eggs cooked

Sorry Ant, sunnyside up and over easy are two different things. As explained above, over easy means the eggs have been flipped once. Sunnyside means means frying them without flipping them over.

If i may correct you TS

In New York City Diners, Kids often call "over easy"for Sunny Side up..

There is "over easy" "over medium" and "over hard" In some diners, over easy is the same as Sunny side up.

Even "Runny" is the same as "Sunny side up" in some Diners..

The thing to consider is if the Yolk is still liquid or not.

I know....

Re: how do you like your eggs cooked

I've ordered eggs all over the States (usually over easy although I'll take the scrambled offered in most buffets) and I've never run into those cooking variations Pete, but I'll take your word on it. I don't hang aroung too many New York diners.

I can understand the over easy vs. over hard and over medium distinction with regards to how runny the yolk is, but I really don't understand calling sunnyside up over easy, as flipping an egg over results in the white covering the yellow of the yolk (as somebody said earlier, making a pocket for the yolk) and thereby eclipsing the "sunny" part of the egg. Sunnyside up would imply that the yolk is still visible and is still a sunny, yellow colour, and the way you get that effect is by not flipping it at all. If you flip the egg too hard and break the yolk, then the yellow, sunnyside is down and not up (i.e. it is touching the surface of the pan), so phrase would also be inaccurate.

Still, Americans have been known to do stranger things to the language.
