Re: Do you get on with your next door neighbours

Our next door neighbours are our best friends. They were that already before we bought our houses next to each other.

The person to the left of us we get on okay with, there's no one to the right off us, the people opposite we don't get on well with as her ****** brother keeps on blocking my drive when he visits.

Have had the privilage to call the police to our neighbours below our home (for having a party in the middle of the night) and the neighbours next door is a drunk couple who usually end up fighting on friday nights

Re: Do you get on with your next door neighbours

The ones in the apartment next door are the only ones wih
kids. And they think it's acceptable to have them running
and screaming in the corridors. Especially when
the grandmother is babysitting. (I think she must be deaf,
cause she screams like a banshee too.)

Everyone else are cool: Polite always say "Good morning"
& "Good evening" and mostly look out for each other.

A lot of the "holiday home" crowd are extremely polite because
they know some of us are around all year and can keep our eye
out for them...

Re: Do you get on with your next door neighbours

The new couple (who've been there about a year) yes - although initially there was a bit of a problem when their visitors parked across my drive (on 2 occassions) and they also started some building work at midnight. But now they've settled in they seem very nice.

As to my other neighbour - we did - but he died about 3 weeks ago - his house has now been sold but no-ones moved in yet - so who knows???

Re: Do you get on with your next door neighbours

No to the left (semi-detached) Kill em all and all who visit them

To the right Indifferent as they are to us. Like it that way as in the odd 'Hello' and nothing to follow, suits me

However, about eight doors down there is a fella that sometimes catches me outside the house and has a chat. He's been around a while here so gives me a bit of the neighbourhood history. Trouble is he's hard to stop once he's started and if he's got time you're in trouble But he's a nice bloke really

Neighbours aren't what they used to be Well not from what I remember as a kid. There was a sense of community. Here where I live now it's pretty much, keep yourself to yourself - which suits my persona... but doesn't help when you have Chav riff-raff like next door, which might in the past not been tolerated by the larger community Burn em on the stake ... for I believe them to be witches ... and something else that rhymes with that

trust coincidences." - Garak, DS9

Re: Do you get on with your next door neighbours

Yes, we'll say good morning and exchange pleasantries and pointless banter, but that's all. They're nice enough and have never done anything to get my back up, but they're just not my kind of people, for starters they like football which I despise, they play golf, they're overweight....... the more I type, the less I like them. I'd better quit while we're still on speaking terms

Re: Do you get on with your next door neighbours

Our next door neighbours are now and old couple but we don't speak for years.
First a mad dog we once had killed several of their ducks. - Then a mad dog they had killed some of our goats.
Then they started driving their cows up against our fence.
Then they built a big house next to ours and we had to object to the planning office over the windows looking over our property.

We have student appartments on the other side - built about 1 year. So far the students have been very good little boys and girls.

Re: Do you get on with your next door neighbours

We get on well with ours..............

We have neighbours on one side and neighbours at the back (we live on a corner).

All of us have been through the trauma of having to build extensions and apart from the usual white vans blocking driveways and builders doing stupid things, that caused a momentary problem, we all still get on really well. We don't have long chats or anything and we are not in and out of each others houses/gardens just friendly and helpful. Boy, are we lucky............ fingers crossed

Re: Do you get on with your next door neighbours

get on very well with ours. Both sets either side are elderly and very polite. Usual stuff, we look after their property and they look after ours whilst on holiday. We always keep an eye on things and knock the door during the winter and stuff. They on the other hand always pop in to see my wife's mum who lives with us now and they also nip in with home baking or a pot of jam.

We've had loads of moves over the years and I make a point of meting and greeting new neighbours. I go out of my way to get off on a good footing and this seems to set the tone for the future.

Life must be pretty miserable with bad neighbours.

Re: Do you get on with your next door neighbours

Yes in an OK sort of way. Not really pallie with them. On the right are a bit Chav and are always bringing breakdown trucks home (he owns a scrap yard) apart from his Mercs etc which is mildly annoying when he keeps leaving it outside our front window rather than up his drive. His lad is getting to that sort of age and they converted the garage to a mini studio and the little b'std keeps playing absolutely sh1te rap music on his bloopin' karaoke machine DEAD,DEAD loud so it just thumps at our windows until after 10.30pm almost every night.

So, if you hear of a formerly mild-mannered, middle-aged man from Manchester who apparently flipped out one day and butchered a sweet 16 year old boy and his six Chav mates whilst innocently enjoying some music - you'll know who he is.

The guy on the left lets on but we hardly see him.

Jim, there's no need to worry, Chav's are not an endangered species so its okay to cull them

Actually, you see Chav's more and more - OMG they're taking over the world - so may be its the time for the right thinking members of society to be required to cull them

er well sort of yes, that was until 3 weeks ago when she backed her poxy 1-series BMW into the passenger side door of my 156 - she even has parking sensors on it and 'she didn't hear them' !!!!!!!
bloody stupid driving - luckily I didn't answer the front door to her -she has kept herself to herself lately too.

This is not a joke - as I've said before there are more and more of them. Even the Mrs commented on this the other day. Just look at the shops popping up around your shopping areas. That's a tell tale sign of market shifts in your area. Although admittedly having shopped for some interesting bargains in Pound shops, having two or three in a small area is not a good sign

We need a war and need to send them to it

@Dpat, she paying for the damage then?
