Is your clutch heavy?

Well is it?

Related thread:-
https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/147-1...-so-heavy.html

Both my 146 and now 156 had/have heavy clutches. By this I mean in traffic, it can be tiring. Other people who have driven my car have said the same.

So I just wanted to check what everyone else thinks about their Alfa clutch. Does it depend on the Alfa marque? Were there older Alfa's with decidely light clutches? What about the 159 and Brera clutch?

Re: Is your clutch heavy?

the clutch on my last 155 was heavy, but then 888dee replaced it and it was light. My GF even comented on how light the clutch was. My other 2 155's had heavy clutches. the V6 got a new one and it was a lot lighter afterwards too............

I have a Chevy Blazer, and it's got an automatic transmission.

Re: Is your clutch heavy?

I suppose it depends on what your used to. I changed from a Peugeot 406 to a 156 and my left leg muscles have shrunk considerably!

I do drive a few different vehicles in my job and I reckon that for a car its size the clutch on a 156 is one of the lighter ones.

Re: Is your clutch heavy?

The clutch weight/feel varies on my GT (only done 2k miles) I think it could be the self adustment systems bedding in but haven't investigated further. The action is reasonably light in comparison to some vehicles but the engagement arc is worryingly small...for a new car.

Re: Is your clutch heavy?

Never lifted her up before, so I really don't know

But even without any modern tech in my Giulia, the clutch works ok. Not heavy at all, or is that my muscular cavs

Seems like now that is the only freaking thing working on my Giulia Engine won't start because of carb and/or ignition probs. Friday to be picked up for the 3rd time in 6 months

But that's me. Please continue on this thread.

Re: Is your clutch heavy?

I must confess, I've not noticed either way. The clutch on my 33 and GTV is about the same as on my Midget, and I haven't noticed much difference between those and my Wife's Landrover and MG ZB.

Re: Is your clutch heavy?

The 147 seems pretty normal to me (whatever normal is )) I guess I'm saying I've never noticed anything markedly different to other cars I've driven.

Re: Is your clutch heavy?

I think its depends what you're used to.

Thinking about it - its probably a tad on the heavy side but I once had a Triumph Spitfire with a TR6 engine in it and that was bl**dy heavy.

Zip it you nutter

So, so far it would seem that I'm in the minority Actually I didn't notice the clutch in any of the loan 147's I've had recently while my car was in for whatever. So maybe they were "normal". But my 156 definitely has a heavy'ish clutch Always has

Re: Is your clutch heavy?

Yes.The 164 Super clutch is horrendous in traffic. You get used to it though then you jump into another car and you just about put your
left foot through the floor because theirs are so light.

Re: Is your clutch heavy?

the gta's clutch is fairly heavy, but then it is a 'mans car'

the clutch on my 2.0 156 was light as was the 155's,

generally clutches to get heavier as they wear hence when a new clutch is fitted they feel really light.

Re: Is your clutch heavy?

I was having this discussion with Crille on Sunday, his 2.5V6 156 clutch is surprisingly heavy compared to mine. when I tried his clutch, it was a fair bit heavier than mine, but nothing to worry about.
