Re: Which Wrist Watch Do You Own

I own 3 watches, For Work.

A Ferrari eBay Hong Kong job which I won for 6p and paid £5 postage for, 2 years in and still going strong.

For Dress.

A Bulova Accutron Spaceview M7, an electric watch developed for NASA to run in conjunction with their 60's Apollo space programme. Very rare now and looks so different to any other watch you will see.

Never Wear.

A Gold Favre Lubra, passed to me when my Father died.

Re: Which Wrist Watch Do You Own

Eh, this one's been done not all that long ago.

I quite like watches (don't have any jewellery as such) and was lucky enough to have been given a Breitling Superocean Chronometre http://www.breitling.com/en/models/a...ono_superocean by my luverly missus for my 50th Birthday. I was over the moon 'cos I'd been slevering over one for years but could never justify the cost whilst the kids were at uni.

A Fossil, made out of titanium.

And a Mio, it's got a heart beat sensor, very useful for the gym...

Very nice - I have a chronomat which I think is a touch smaller - although it still weighs a lot! My arm feels very light when I take it off.

Invariably my hands are in computers and the back of equipment racks, so I don't wear a watch these days. I rely on my mobile phone.

A swatch-flat thing. Watches are like pens or mobile phones IMO, they're simply tools, and the cheapest watch these days is as accurate as the best chronograph of 20 years ago.

Re: Which Wrist Watch Do You Own

I think we need to hold on for the atomic wrist watch so everything is accurate and have no more dead batteries in the worst possible situations. Like turning up to an interview over two hours late
or missing a pre booked table for dinner with the girlfriend.

although i own a sekonda with a spare battery and screwdriver in my laptop bag due to the above events

Peter, for your info all Accutron watches don't tick, nor are they silent, they give you a faint hum which again is unique.

The name Spaceview is derived from the Apollo space programme added to the fact you can see through and view the watches' internal parts.

As far as I'm aware they were the worlds first electric watch made by Swiss firm Bulova for NASA. They started making them in the early 60's through to the mid 70's I believe.

Mine is an 1967 M7, M meaning 60's and the 7th year in that decade, they changed the shape of the face in the 70's to a TV screen shape but IMO these don't look as good although they have the same Accutron movement.

They are not accurate timekeepers by todays standards, even when new they were only guaranteed to within around 2 mins. a week and mine keeps to that.

You don't need to go and spend a fat wad of money on a nice watch, My mate has a well known brand mentioned here which I'll tactfully keep to myself and even he admits his is dull in comparison, I know he wants one but he feels he can't follow me.

He has the BMW of watches and I have the Alfa.

Some people would argue that cars are simply tools. We all know this is not true, same with watches.

Re: Which Wrist Watch Do You Own

Tag Kirium for every day - brilliant, no need to worry about it, if I'm under the car, or got my hands in the aquarium, it will be fine.
Going out - a nice Longines automatic
Next - Breitling Navitimer, cracking watch, but I'm a bit dissapointed that its not waterproof - it is two and a half grand watch after all.
I'm not at all into jewellery (unlike my wife ) but I like a nice watch.

That's a beauty! I have about 6-7 watches, mostly fairly inexpensive ones, but of my "nice" watches, my favorite is far and away my Breitling, which I've worn most everyday since I bought her 10 years ago.
