Alfa 156 Big wing, like it or not?

Do you like the big wing, as fitted to Alfa 156 as a option? The big Supra style one. I quite like it, and I am not a chav or a boy racer.

No, I don't think much of it. It doesn't improve the aerodynamics or stability of the car at all, and I think the 156 looks better without it.

No I think it spoils the looks of the car, the smaller one is ok, but it looks best of all without. When I test drove the 156GTA it had the big wing on and it kept catching my eye in the mirror, though I guess you'd get used to it.

No I dont like it,I think it spoils the clean design of the 156 ,they just dont seem to 'flow' with the rest of the car.
I feel the same about the small spoilers you see on the back of the gtv.

There are very few 156 that suits the BFOGW it just doesn't sit right with the rest of the car especially if the car is standard.

If it was about 4" lower then it would have looked very tasty

It gets the thumbs up from me, I had one on my Cosmos V6, and it doesn't look OTT IMO.

Re: Alfa 156 Big wing, like it or not?

I think the BFOGW looks great on a BTCC style 156 with other modifications to match but a bit daft on a standard Turismo.

I don't like them - I am not even sure about the small spoiler and I have one?

I could understand the temptation to fit one if it made your car look like Tarquini's but they don't have them either - Where did the design come from anyway?

I don't see the point in attaching a model of the star ship enterprise to the back of you car Oh that was the RS escort

Re: Alfa 156 Big wing, like it or not?

Voted No - but in defence, i think it might stabilize the car during hard braking from high speeds. I recently had a bit of a scare.. was braking hard from 210 km/h in my 156 GTA, and the back end could definitely need some more downforce!

Re: Alfa 156 Big wing, like it or not?

Personally I don't like it - oerhaos if I was a teenager I would but I'm obviously getting to old.

I some ways it may br OK for a GTA, but there's a number of 1.8's I've seen with them on and I always think that that is OTT.

What difference does that make? It either suits the styling of the car or doesn't... (engine) size doesn't matter

Because, IMHO, cars decked out in spoilers required them because they're supposed to be fast.

I'm sure the 1.8 is pretty nippy for a 1.8, but you couldn't really describe it as being very fast.

So you just end up with a sheep in wolf's clothing.

I wasn't really confining my comments to the styling of the car but also about the ethos of putting a great big wing on it in the first place.

Re: Alfa 156 Big wing, like it or not?

Cheers Mr O.

Compare and contrast...

Think the wing suits my particular car, but not ALL 156's TBH.
