CloverLeaf or GTA

Like the 156, the high performance version og the 159 and Brera appear that they're going to be called GTA. However, with the 145 and 155 they were called Cloverleafs.

Personally I thought the name Cloverleaf was nicer - as it was a bit different and also related to one of their racing drivers.

So do you think high performance Alfa's should be Cloverleafs or GTA's

I'd prefer Cloverleaf myself.

Re: CloverLeaf or GTA

Isn't Cloverleaf the badge that adorns all racing Alfas, and GTA the moniker for a specific (theoretically lightened hahahah! )
category of race car which had a variant for the road.

i.e. Wouldn't the original GTAs have also had a cloverleaf badge.

I think they should keep GTA but just use it for genuinely more focused and worthy vehicles that aren't lardy

Cloverleaf/Ti even GT for the sports models like current GTAs and use GTA moniker for the proper lightweight GTAs that Alfa should build, real specialist, no toys.

Re: CloverLeaf or GTA

many companies appear to shy away from the more specialist type of cars that would be aimed at the more 'enthusiastic' drivers/owners. Peugeot did it last with its superb 106 rallyes. I'd like to see more performance cars without all the toys, nice and light, no nonsense motors. But will there be a market for them?

Oh, and I voted GTA.

Yeah...but no offence, GTA just sounds like GTi, and that means boy racer (sorry!!!)

At least with a cloverleaf it's supposed to be lucky!!!

Re: CloverLeaf or GTA

Since the current top versions of the Brera and 159 are already called after the cloverleaf, I would say GTA

Re: CloverLeaf or GTA

I like the name Cloverleaf too but it seams to suit more 'sporting' versions. I thought the original prototype of the Brera was great but the actual production version is a bit slab sided (will probably get slagged of for saying that) and I'm sorry but I can see its 156/9 petticoat, so I think GTA is probably right.

Re: CloverLeaf or GTA

Keep the lot, they all have their own particular character -

TI/GT, QfO, QV, GTA, Q4

but I could do without all the Lussos, Supers, and Sportivos.

Re: CloverLeaf or GTA

I think Quadrifoglio Verde or Green-four-leaf-clover, sounds better, GTA is a bit too close to GTi in my liking, and Rover used a GTA badge on their warm Metro's. At least cloverleaf is unique to Alfa.

I agree - In BMW-speak, ALfa Ti would be the equivelent of the M-Sport package (sports suspension, seats, wheels and aeroparts), Cloverleaf would be used for what is now the GTA (equivelent of BMW M-cars), and GTA would then be used only for full-out lightweight performance models (like the M3 CSL).

I want a full-out lightweight Brera GTA!....

Sorry, I don't know what you're trying to say?

In the UK Alfa sold, I think from 92-94 a LHD version of the 155 with 4WD and a 2litre turbo-charged engine. In the UK this was called a Cloveleaf, but in other countries MAY have been Q4 I'm not sure.

Eitherway, a 155 Cloverleaf was sold.

Oh, just found this link that gives some details

Re: CloverLeaf or GTA

...and there is a 155 GTA, although it's a race car.

The Q4 isn't called Cloverleaf, simply Q4 so I can understand how the confusion has arisen.

Re: CloverLeaf or GTA

Far as I know Cloveleaf has always referred to the top of the range cars whilst GTA has referred to the race (lightened) versions.
