Have you 'maxed' your motor

I was just wondering if people have modified (any) of their Alfas at all?

Re: Have you 'maxed' your motor

I have the AD intake and braided brake hose kit fitted, will do exhaust and suspension if and when I get some spare cash! But outwardly it'll be no different from the norm!

Re: Have you 'maxed' your motor

I have said no, but am concidering an aftermarket exhaust and chip.

That said I don't like changing the look of cars, other than wheels maybe (but nothing OTT) so if I get an exhaust it will be one that is not dissimilar in look to the original.

The thing that always concerns me with modifying even slightly is selling the car on. Yes I love the car now but will one day sell it on, and it may put people off and devalue the car.

Re: Have you 'maxed' your motor

I've made some 'tasteful' improvements (Powerflow pipe, clear side repeaters, EBC discs & pads), apart from that it's as nature intended.

'Maxing' to me means 'making a perfectly good car look like a cobbled up sack of sh**e', and conjures up images of badly-fitted (and usually unpainted) bumper extensions, tinted windows full of air bubbles, and tailpipes that scrape gulleys through speed humps.

Not maxxed at all. More like turning a wolf in sheeps clothing into a pumped up wolf on steroids in sheeps clothing

Re: Have you 'maxed' your motor

I tend to do a lot of "invisible" tuning. I like the car to look as stock as possible, but drive and handle as good as possible. Have not had the money to really do what I want to my GTA (shocks/springs/anti-roll kit/muffler/engine chip come to mind...), but this is what I've done so far:

HDD in-dash navigation system
Dension iPod Kit
Privacy film
Potenza RE-01R tires
Asso Sports Intake Pipe
K&N Sports Filter
Hot Inazma - Hyper Voltage System GT
Hot Inazma - Hyper Ground System
Phillips Blue Vision (High Beam/Fogs)
Unicorse Titanium Tower Bar
Bollente Rear Parallel Link
Bollente Front Lower Bar
Redpoint Fiberglass Engine Undercover
SEV Stage 1 Kit
SEV Battery
SEV Transmission

Apart from the layer of dirt and various little dings on the doors on it, the car's as it left the factory.

Re: Have you 'maxed' your motor

Alas, no upgrade on the Alfa, partly because of money, and because of numerous potholes and speedbumps here... I doubt any alloy rim would last long. When I can afford a chip though, I'll get it right away. And then when the missus gets her 166 (next year maybe?), I'd like to change the coils and shocks for better handling. Dreams dreams dreams...

Re: Have you 'maxed' your motor

Never had a stock Alfa for long - there is always something to 'improve'

My Selespeed has modified intake, Novitec exhaust , Brembo brakes, Bilstein dampers, Novitec antiroll bars, strut brace, upgrade hifi, clear side lights, painted mirrors.

The V6 has full Zender bodykit and 17" alloys but is otherwise standard for now.
