Eating Out Of The Box

If/when you order a pizza for home delivery do you remove all edible objects from the box and put them on a plate or just eat it straight from the box?

Personally I cant understand why people take it out of the box, thatís one of the points of getting a takeaway so you donít have to cook or wash up.

Re: Eating Out Of The Box

Errm... the Pizza stays in the box but a slice is taken out and put on a plate which is then subjected to knife and fork treatment ending in pieces cut then entering my gob and me eating them

Does that make me strange

Yes.

Straight from the box it has to be.

Plates and knives and forks, honest to god.

Definitely. Eating pizza with a knife and fork is extremely odd indeed.

Straight from the box. And if I'm still hungry, eat the box. Pizza Hut now stuff the cardboard with cheese. Mighty tasty.

Hey! Hey! Hey!

I get loads of extra toppings (cheap 'offer' skates ) so it would be all flimsy and a good portion of it would end up on the floor Plus I like to add ground pepper and salt

Re: Eating Out Of The Box

Pizza is eaten out of the box, unless Jenny and I are sitting seperately for some reason, in which case one of us will move our half onto a plate.
Other takeouts, chips and whatnot, are moved to plates though, I find that the polystyrene containers seem to effect the taste slightly.

Re: Eating Out Of The Box

When I was a poor student in Birmingham I delivered pizzas for a while to make ends meet. There was one couple who knew the owner of the place (Oak Food fast food in Northbridge, lovely King Donner kebabs, try one if you're going past. Having said that, this was about ten years ago, might be crap now.) and he had told them that spicy food was an aphrodisiac. Every Thursday, whithout fail, they'd ring and order a hot pizza, extra chillies.
Knowing what was behind this, he used to take great delight in making the pizza as gut-burstingly hot as possible. He'd start chopping up chillies extra fine a hour or so before the phonecall in preparation.
I can't imagine the pizza was even edible by the time he'd finished, but I always used to get a good tip from them

EDIT: Reading that back, one point really stands out. TEN YEARS AGO??? When did I become old enough for ANYTHING to have happened ten years ago? Waaaaaahhhhhhh.

Welcome to old age, bazza.

So is this the first time you've had the "ten year" revelation? Trust me it won't be the last. Oh, and just wait until you subsitute the "decade" label instead for the "ten year" one. Boy does that make you feel fabulous. Oh joy.

It will only get better. Soon it will be "fifteen years ago," then "twenty." It's all downhill from here.

It's also a sign that it is time to stop playing serious, competitve sports, as I'm sure your little finger can attest.

Re: Eating Out Of The Box

Cheers Tor, you know how to make a bear feel better.
It's not the first time I've had the 'ten year thing', but it is the first time (and this is the important part) that the thing I'm thinking about, which happened ten years ago, happened when I was ALREADY AN ADULT. Well, officially at least

Re: Eating Out Of The Box

Glad to help, as always.

I understand the "adult" thing, but don't worry, the shock will wear off in a while.

Let us know when you stop counting your birthdays and you honestly can't remember how old you are. That should be the next big age shock you'll encounter (after you get over receiving reunion invitations to your high school and university ). We'll be there to commiserate with you.
