Hmmm Would you buy a 159?

Having read most of the posts about the 159 and with my own knowledge and feel for Alfa, I wouldn't. Would you?

Re: Would you buy a 159?

I have said yes no doubt about it, as I have no problem with comments that have been made. I may however switch to the 147 replacement when the time comes as the 159 is larger than the 156.

It's not just the 159 that has been eating all the pies though, I saw a new VW Passat the other day and couldn't believe how large it was!

I don't however see me getting bored with the GTA any time soon though

I'm more likely to go for a Brera, but I will be giving the 159 a test so won't rule it out.

Exactly my answer but... I could also get a 156SW.

Most probably not - I'm currently very pleased with the 156.
I was not impressed with the (quality of) the interior when I saw the 159. You could very clearly see a depression where the passenger side airbag sits in the dashboard, the steering wheel isn't to my liking. Don't know how it drives...

If the GT is still around when the current Bella goes, I think she'll be a fair candidate - I opted for the 156 SW in favor of the GT this year because the kids still need a lot of boxes shifted with all the changes they're currently going through but that'll be in the past by the time I get to worry about a new car I hope...

So: a GT if it's still around - but if the money allows, a Brera perhaps... Now that would be nice

Re: Would you buy a 159?

A Brera, well it makes sense if you don't need the space. I am just a bit worried about her price. Anyone has a clue to what that will be?

And in all fairness, I'd wait for the 147 successor as well...

147 GTA

Re: Would you buy a 159?

No I wouldn't!

First of all, I don't fit in it. The roof is to low, the centre console is to wide. I feel cramped inside.
Room behind the front and rear seat is worthy of a coupe, not a 4 door saloon. At least, when I adjust the seat for my length.
The GT I tested, had about the same room behtween the seats. Also, the roof is to low for me. BTW, I'm just under 2 metres.

The 147 was the first (and the last) Alfa I was comfortable in. It seems I'll have to keep my GTA. Lucky me.

I REALLY don't like the GM engines. Might be great engines but not in an Alfa. Perhaps if they put a Maserati engine in the 159 GTA, it would be something.

Steeringwheel is ugly and the ones I saw were badly finished. Steeringwheel controls for audio and telephone are fiddly.

What I like? The centre console, the seats, the exterior.

I don't like the Brera as seen on the pictures. Chances are, I won't fit in that one either. The brera spider looks VERY nice. I will fit (at least with the roof open).

Re: Would you buy a 159?

It'll probably cost an arm and a leg when the 159 arrives in Thailand later this year. I'll be buying something that fits my budget, obviously I'll be keeping my 156.

I hope that when the time comes, for the price of new 159 I will be able to get my dream set - 156 SW JTD for the daily driving and 147GTA for the weekend.

Re: Would you buy a 159?

If my firm wanted to buy me a new company car. Otherwise as a private punter I would be more likely to buy a used GT, '47 or '56.

Only the possible answers don't include "Sir's engine of choice" The v6)

Not Happy Re: Would you buy a 159?

So far I have to say that I'm very disappointed with the looks of the 159. Where have all the quirky design features gone? The wing mirrors are HUGE and ugly. On looks alone, I'd rather keep my 156.

BUT, never say never. I'm going to test one as soon as I can to have a looky. My 156 is due for a change this November, so we'll see.

The GT?? Maybe, but I get the feeling that it'll date VERY quickly when the Brera hits the UK roads. Just watch the GT re-sale price plummet... Remember guys, its based on an old platform....

Ah yes, the Brera. A very expensive car - in many ways I fear. Stunning looks, but is there really enough substance to justify 30k+ ??? Especially when the Audi TT2 is well on its way, plus a few other good looking 30k coupes.....

And then the dealers.........

God help all the 'new alfistis' that walk into an Alfa service centre with the gremlins in the first RHD 159's........

-Keep It Moist-
I'm experiencing deja vu and amnesia at the same time... I think I've forgotten this before.

I am very satisfied with our 156 ...

I will have a test drive before I do the final decicion (hopefully the dealer gives me that test drive some day). The car looks great, but does it fell great No decicions before the test drive ...

Re: Would you buy a 159?

Probably not....as I want a GT

It's not a bad loking car imho, but the styling is a little generic and almost eurobox. I agree with comments above questioning the lack of Alfa quirks...or styling excellence as I prefer :d

Re: Would you buy a 159?

I'm very happy with my 156 however I do like my bigger cars

Don't ask why and this is no reflection on the women I like!

My 156 is due a remap next Tuesday and Im hoping for a transformed car that will convince me otherwise, but the lure of he 2.4 JTD in standard 200bhp trim is very tempting for me plus I love the looks!

One thing is for sure though i would wait a while, as I agree with Alfa20V's comment regarding the Alfa service centre and gremlins
