Re: Goverment!

The UK has no government at the moment.

Blair until now had been running things his way (presidential-type leadership, not parliament). Blair then tells everyone he won't be Prime Minister for the next election, therefore is a lame duck leader just trying create something good before he resigns, hoping to erase the bad press about Iraq. The labour members ditched his proposals for terrorist detention without trial and now feel they can disrupt his leadership. Gordon Brown is starting to make his mark before taking over as leader. It's all a bit of a mess. Conservative opposition is still in complete disarray so no hope there.

'A business absolutely devoted to service will have only one worry about profits. They will be embarrassingly large.' - Henry Ford.

Re: Goverment!

i think that when tb was voted against for the terrorist detention it was all a publicity stunt because most of us think he is a tw*t and he knows this! so having your own people vote against you "might" cause people to think maybe tb isnt so bad and big wigs are making decisions and tb is the fall guy!? just to make him personally more "likeable"

i know nothing about politics

Somehow I have the strong feeling that Trust and an African Government , whether "democratically" elected or not, do not seem to go with each other

Re: Goverment!

Do I trust any of the parties I have the option of voting for? Nope. Must agree that we are a long way better than some parts of the world though. Watching a news programme last night where political prisoners have been kept captive for 10 years..... sickening

Not sure that I entirely agree. The Botswana Government is very stable and, AIDS apart, seems to be doing a reasonable job for the country. Credit where credit's due, eh?
