Re: How much would you spend on performance?

I said a couple of thousand, but I'd have to have way more than that to justify it, so it's not likely to be happening any time soon.

42,000+ euro(and still rising)on engine tuning and turbocharging alone. And over 12,000 euro on suspension, wheels and braking systems.About 6000-7000 euro on electronic and computer devices for the engine and handling of the car.

So I voted for the insane option and the other amount option aswell.

Turbocharge it,potential little rocketship and GTA beater/slayer too,if tuned and setup properly.I can recommend it.

Alternatively, get the cylinder head skimmed, gas flowed, polished and ported, upgrade the valves and the get uprated cams.Put in a better.thicker head gasket aswell.Put it all back together and get it remapped.Ad a filter and exhaust system and you will pick up an extra 30-35bhp over all from the 1.6 litre engine.

P.S-Get the new upgraded exhaust manifold or the existing one polished and ported to exactly match the polished and ported cylinder head exhaust outlets too.Perfect smooth gas flow is the main aim.

You can always tuck under the steering wheel for that extra bit of aerodynamic effect

Yeah, pull the wing mirrors in towards the doors too for a more aerodynamic effect.

Natuarlly No, I have not done all of it.If I had, then I would not have spent so much money Mr Orange.I have done a fair bit though.Alot more than I thought I would end up doing.Lots of late nights and early mornings in the garage under ther car working on her.I like to get stuck in and get very hands on with the car and its build. Also I ask a hell of alot of questions so I know exactly whats going on and what each tuning part is for and how it works. If you dont watch learn and try then you wont learn.

Thats how and where I learn about tuning/modifying,by getting stuck and doing work and tuning upgrade stuff on the car, while being supervised/overseen so that I do it right the first time round.

I ask my mechanic for a certain spec of car with a certain power/handling spec, and thats what I get,and then some more.Of course I have to pay for it.You dont get nothing for in this world for free.

I am looking forward to 2006 though.New car,new engine, twin turbo setup and mad power/torque too.

As I have always said,I buy something and tune/modify it straight away.I cannot leave it standard.Thats just the way I am.I dont care what it costs either. If I did, then I wouldnt do this sort of thing in the first place.Thanks.

P.S - The next owner of this car is in for one hell of a shock and one hell of a treat at the same time though.

61,000+ the price of the car? I love my GTA, but for that kind of money I'd probably buy a track-ready Porshe GT3 RS with roll cage and the ceramic-composite brakes...

Re: How much would you spend on performance?

Not in Ireland

The list price of a GT3 RS is Euro 200,000 in Ireland

Our market is strangely distorted at the upper end.
Don't know why.

The bad thing is that you can't easily import either because you would have to pay import duty of 23% of the new **IRISH** price.
e.g an extra Euro 46,000 !
So much for European competition...

Cheers, sorry I mean tears,

TB

Re: How much would you spend on performance?

still we Danes top at 180% Tax on top of car value.( and thats 180% AFTER the VAT of 25% is added on the cars value..) so we tax tax..can you beat that??

i had to vote for "insane" or above 16 in this poll, simply because i have in fact spent this.. and more.. But i would not have done it if we had a normal car tax system. Then i would have bought a faster car to begin with.

I think a Porsche GT3 RS is around 400.000 Euro

Sorry guys - I thought you were talking GBP! But for 61000 Euro + price of the 147 Alfa (which would be about 55,000GBP), you could still buy a 3.4 liter Porsche Cayman (45,000GBP in the UK) and have 10,000GBP left over for a some nice upgrades. I guess I'm just showing my age (43). I like buying cars new and making just "minor" modifications (exhaust, intake pipe and air filter, sports suspension) that don't void the warranty. I really respect what AlfaDublin is doing to his cars - it sounds like a fun hobby, but my GTA modifications will go no further than what I mentioned above, and since my business seems to be doing pretty well right now, when I do have 55,000GBP laying around I will probably opt for a Porsche, a V8 M3, or better yet, a Brera GTA...

Re: How much would you spend on performance?

i was thinking of the full autodelta treatment which of course includes the basic mods like intake+carbon pipe, remap, full stainless steel system and sport cams, springs, anti-roll kit and maybe brakes but then i think i might be going a little far! these stuff will set me back around 2k without labour for just as little as 30bhp. perhaps i should pay a little more and turbo the bast**d hahaha then i'll enter the world of no return or just get another car so many ifs and buts
