Do you looking like an AR driver

I was in a local park today with my kids & wife when a 99 reg'd red coloured 156 parked beside mine. As he, his wife & son got out they gave my car the once over.... i smiled to myself.... vanity

As he walked away i noticed a few thing about him, mostly that he was younger than i, shorter than i & had more hair than i..... in other words not a clone of me I asked my wife who, me or him, looked more of an AR driver..... she said "you" ..... but she lied

It did get me wondering how do we AR driver visualise ourselves. Are we the ulimate AR driver or do we fit into the AR drivers niche or are we AR freaks, un-suited to owning one.... from another person point of view?

Re: Do you looking like an AR driver

I posted no, from the point of view that when at Goodwood and nosing around the 159 and Brera they never asked if I was interested. They spoke to some guy that really was not, but there was I with my 156 in the car park being ignored. Oh wait isn't that what a lot of alfa salesman do! ignore potential customers.

Well I suppose if mid twenties, short and ever so slightly over weight is your average alfa owner then thats me

Dunno - except me and Gra166Lusso turned up in identical t-shirts at last weeks Scots meet. And they weren't AR t-shirts.

Re: Do you looking like an AR driver

We have been conditioned by the movies, general media and advertising into believing that all Alfa drivers/owners are cool - but the common man ( those who buy Passats and Avensis ) think we are mad and stupid.
I think an Alfa driver can't be indentified by their looks but share certain personality traits - a wish to be individual, an appreciation for beautiful design and all things Italian, a love of driving and a keen interest in engineering and technology.
The Alfa driver does not follow the crowd and is generally a deep thinker and in my view more perceptive than the general population.

Re: Do you looking like an AR driver

Yeah right, AR driver's are just vain, imo.

If there was a line up of 10 drivers, 9 were so-called ar drivers & me as the 10th, there is no way i'd be selected as an AR driver.... maybe a Passat type

Re: Do you looking like an AR driver

IMO, Alfaguy has got it right, in the sense that it's whats on the inside rather than that which can be seen from the outside that makes an 'AR driver'. Which means I might have to vote... no Having seen people in the GTAO threads ... there's nothing unique in their appearance or look which would make me think think they drove Alfa's In fact some look like they would drive Micra's, or dare I say some beemers ... that's a joke of course but I hope it illustrates my point

Re: Do you looking like an AR driver

I voted 'other' as I don't believe there is a typical Alfa driver, certainly as far as looks go.

Re: Do you looking like an AR driver

Last year I took lunch at a rather lovely al fresco restaurant near Perugia and dined in the shade of trees planted by Mussolini for his mistress. Very pleasant.

I like 147's because they are very often driven by tasty totty

Re: Do you looking like an AR driver

unusual question. Never really thought of it before. That said, when I had my GTV6, one of my work mates said: "that car suits you. You should drive it more often." So, maybe I was living up to his perceptions of a typical Alfa-driver? Or maybe I just looked happier behind the wheel of the Alfa than I did my Golf?

in the beginning i've understand you are speaking about "Totti" fans
In Italy Totti and his fans are famous for their "no intelligence"

Re: Do you looking like an AR driver

i voted no as on my second day of alfa ownership i was pulled over by a very unpleasant officer of the law who told he pulled me because i didn't look like the type of person who should be driving a car like this, and before anyone says it i don't wear baseball caps but have very long hair indeed (perhaps he thought i was a young lady )
if only he'd had the intelligence to sum it up as our resident police chap alfaguy did.

However you dress or part your hair , you have to have the shades but you loose brownie points if you mutter on about " I miss greasing me nipples"

Re: Do you looking like an AR driver

Didn't vote for two reasons:

1. My dad is nearly 60, shorter than me, balding and grey, with a beard and allways immaculatly groomed in a suit. He drives an alfa. I soon plan to have one, but i am taller than him, have dark hair and am in my late 20's and am decidedly more casual/scruffy than he is. We both love AR, and drive like demons.

2. I also have a mazda MX5, and I can tell you I have never been mistaken for a hairdresser, so I don't think any car has a typical driver look.

But, I agree with the other poster, most AR drivers do seem to have a smile stiched onto their face.
