Drunk How do you park?

Realising that there are people here form many countries, even a few beyond Europe , I will *try* to fit in all your requirements.

Forgive me if this poll is not up the "Pasi's" standards

Re: How do you park?

I have to park an Accord Tourer every day in a road where there is only on street parking and where each house has at least 2 cars!Parallel parking comes naturally to me.

Re: How do you park?

Mmm, slightly biased poll (driving in mean reversing out so what's the difference?) and no option for "all of the above" which is what most of us do I suspect.

So, "All of the above" (except the "abandoning") is my vote.

Re: How do you park?

I hate parallel parking cus I run the big risk that I will scrape a wheel and for me I am sad enough to let that ruin a day for and, then everytime I wash it again and see a chunk of white paint missing its a garunteed bad mood!
Also this is not helped by the fact that the passenger mirror only adjusts electricaly side to side, not up and down

Re: How do you park?

I chose other, you forgot the option of choose a space amongst a load of empty ones away from all the dented up c*ap boxes and cars with baby seats in the back, and park any way you can. saves the bodywork.

Re: How do you park?

if in the supermarket...i always look for a parent/child space as they are a lot wider than the others or if that fails, i try and park away from all the cars and take up 2 spaces...bit selfish but saves being mighty pi55ed off about a new scratch ordent on your car off a tw*t who just couldnt give a fu*k as he is in an m reg ford escort sh*tbox ...and i normally reverse/parallel park

I am too lazy, so usually I only drive in

Re: How do you park?

For supermarket style parking:
The thing is that reversing into a parking space makes it so much easier to get into and out of. This is because the steering wheels are always almost out of the space, giving you a better chance of parking well and exiting easily. And if you drive straight in, you're less able to manouevre it on the way in, which means you're more likely to park too close to one of the many idiots so delicately referred to above by mr orange (we all know who you mean!).

For parallel parking the same theory applies:
drive in = nightmare
reverse in = nightmare (but it's a bit easier! )

Re: How do you park?

I've just got the point of the question. I rarely have to park on the street, where I would normally reverse in, unless there is plenty of space, so I voted 'Drive in'. Then I realised that I reverse into my own drive, I reverse into spaces at work and other car parks - so I guess I'm not the lazy sod I thought I was!

Re: How do you park?

Reverse all the way regardless of the space. Easier and quicker to get out. Only exception is when shopping and if I need easy access to the boot. One thing I've noticed since living in Spain for the last four years is how careless the spicks generally are when opening car doors in car parks. You would not believe how many annoying little dents I collected on the 164 over the years. Needless to say, this latest addition to the 164 familly gets parked away from the clutter and taking up two spaces if possible! I also notice more and more people doing this especially with new cars... Seems to me a general attitude problem exsists in these parts!
