If it's not broken...

Just wondering, have you ever "fixed" something that's not broken, and then broke it while "fixing" it?

Absolutely. I keep taking things apart just to see how they work, and the inevitable thing happens; something breaks, or a spring ejects itself into hyperspace

What have you just broken Pasi?

Re: If it's not broken...

Why only on saturday I was trying to replace the blade on the rear wiper. "I ain't gonna fork out 30-40 on a new wiper arm, all I have to do is take the old blade off and replace it with this one". SNAP, CRACK. "*****".
Ordered the wiper arm yesterday.
Although it wasn't easy, bloody alfa dealers. Here's the experience,

Me: I need to get my hands on a rear wiper for a '99 146
Parts guys gets up from his seat and checks a little book for about thirty seconds, then goes to his computer.
Parts guy: We don't have any at the moment.
Me: Can you order one?
PG: (Kind of sighs) It won't be here until wednesday.
Me: Yeah, ok.
PG: (Silence)
Me: What time on wednesday is best to collect it?
PG: First thing in the morning
And then he starts ordering it.
What the bloody hell???? If you don't have it order the bloody thing and tell me when to come back. It was like pulling teeth.

Re: If it's not broken...

"Just off to do the widget change dear ... about 10 mins max."

Two hours later ...

"Errrmm, just popping down to halfords/local part store/dealers (delete as appropriate) .... noticed the dooglefangle is a bit rusty/scratched/cracked and I should really replace it. No won't take long or cost much."

Two more hours later ....

"Errrmmm you didn't need the car next week did you? I had to order the dooglefangle and it won't be here until Thursday .... oh and it was a bit more expensive than I thought"

"Ouch!!!!"

A bit like the 3.50 for carb cleaner ....

.....and 160 for that new idle actuator .... (costs approximate as I haven't bought one ... yet!)

cheers, Gary
