Exotic Icons?

Again, just a few moments worth of contemplation and I have a list of more than 10, over-populated by equally worthy Ferraris so there's a lot of room for discussion.

...and I ran out of space for the 8C (surely a modern icon?), DB4GT Zagato, DB5/6, Enzo, 33 Stradale, Stratos, BMW M1, Maserati Tipo 61 "Birdcage", Cobra......this could go on.

It nearly made the "iconic but pants" poll. But I know what you mean. A gazillion Athena posters are a powerful argument. I believe the bird with a tennis ball up her jacksie couldn't play tennis all that well either...

Me and me mate used to argue constantly about it. I always protested the 512BB was better than the Lambo. deep down, though, I always know which one I'd rather turn up in.

It was on my long short-list but the others got ahead IMHO. There was a case for a Ferrari icon list. I'm far less a Yankista than you and I had over 10 Yanks without trying...I may do that list or leave it to you.

Difficult choice.
The Countach as the 80's poster car and the icon of 80's excess
or
The GT40 as the Ferrari shredding 60's icon.

Had to go GT40 but only if in Gulf colours of course.

Probably the opposite of exotic but when I was growing up every boy at school wanted an Escort RS 1600.

I count anything with a BDA as exotic. It's sort of half a DFV and even made it into the mighty RS200 with a hairdryer strapped to it.

It still trails the more beautiful Miura in the votes so far. I have to admit it's a hard call and the Countach virtually defined the 80's.

Office Chair.

I'm struggling. It helps little that I'm a big Ferrari fan and what I think is iconic is not. I do like a few Lambos and the Muira was iconic in that it was the father of supercars.

Then the 250, F40 and my personal favourite the 288GTO. Gullwing, GT40 and Veyron too.

I will have to think and come back to this.

Tough call on this one but the Countach featured in most of the posters I had as a teenager. However, if I was buying one of the options it would have to be a 288 GTO. I remember the first time, circa '86 or '87, that I saw Ron Stratton's own 288 parked up outside his dealership , still got the pics of it somewhere. A couple of years later I was looking at one they had for sale, a snip at £999,999.99
