Go 215, Petko. You will lose more than you will win with the 225.

Re: 225 or 215/45/17 for my 147JTD

many people are saying that...I will wait to see how this vote goest till tuesday (or when the wheel are here) and buy the tires then.

The vote might have 99% influance over what tires will be on my bella

p.s:I forget to include the Dunlop SP sport maxx in the poll...I can get all of the at the same price

I would go for the 215 but although I said Rosso...Nero are sort-of-OK, I supect there are much better tyres out there that you should put your money on.

With 225 you'll lose top speed, aceleration and, IMHO progression and feeling. My 2 cents

You already know by now that I'm very happy with my tires. I say that every time I come out of a corner.

Re: 225 or 215/45/17 for my 147JTD

Hi kgb,
I voted for 215 as I am very happy with them. I think 225 would not bring you much more grip. Consider that wider tyres wear faster, mainly in city driving. In turns or parking there is bigger difference in the speed of inner and outer tyre edge and the tyre is more sliding than rolling. I can feel it by parking with 215 too. Moreover I think 215 is the limit (or slightly beyond) for 7x17 wheel. The sidewalls tend to bend slightly inside and that doesnt look/drive good. 225 on 7" wheel will not look much wider than 215. For 225 you would need 7,5x17 or 8x17. Positive of 225 is, that the ride would be a little more comfortable and parking by curbs safer.

I voted for rosso, but I dont have experience with neither of your tyre options.

Re: 225 or 215/45/17 for my 147JTD

today I received my wheels and I was thinking of first seeing the forum (cause I didnt have a net connection for a few days) and then buying the tires but I couldn resist the temptention and I went for the 215/45/17 PZero Nerro.

I am really happy with the tires and the ride comfort which I should say is now better then before with the 195/60/15 factory firestones...It is kind of strange because I was expectiong something really bad for our roads over here...but it is better and it is only worse when going over sharp unven parts of the road or deep potholes.

I didnt take any pics today cause my car is very dirty (didnt have time to clean it)...tomorrow I will wash my bella and take couple of shots to share.

In couple of words I am very happy with my new wheels and tires.

Thanks all

...well they are basiclly two different tires.

Visit www.pirelli.com look at the product range...in the ultra high performance section you have all the P Zero series of tires. Nerro, Rosso, Asymetrico (spelling), Direzionali and the rest.

Wow. I am surprised how good your wheels look on Alfa. Seeing them on web, they were just fine, but in flesh..... Congrats.

Have you considered slight lowering? I know the roads are..... But anyway

Neros are the biggest bag of **t** since the P6000.
Rossos are very good, but I don't think you can get them in 215/45/17.

Re: 225 or 215/45/17 for my 147JTD

Gotcha,

I am happy you like them ...they look even nicer, but the weather here is terrible these days...I am unable to clean the car and take proper pictures.

With the new tires and wheels the car became a little higher (I think) then before which is good for the roads here...The main problem with the roads here that you drive on a normal road...and then there is a pothole waiting for you to kill you tyre and wheel...another thing they do here..is when they make some kind of road works they "cut" the pavement and leave it like that for at least a week...that is the worse of it all. Let me not get into that more

otherwise I really want to lower the car...roads in my part of the city are OK but sometimes I have to go out of the area and then.

Rick there was also a Rosso in 215/45/17...I have already bough the Neros and I am really happy with them. But tells us why do you think Neros are so bad.

I think there are in some countries, but not in Britain for some reason? Certainly not when I was choosing anyway...

Well... my car came with 215/45/17 Neros on. I didn't find they gripped very well, especially in the wet, and they wore out very quickly - 9,000 miles on the front. I swapped to Goodyear F1 GSD3. What a difference! Better dry grip, miles better wet grip, slightly better wear and the biggest surprise - livelier, more communicative steering. The Neros made the steering feel very wooden and inert somehow.
So, there you go. I can't recommend the F1s enough. They made a huge difference to my car (2.4JTD SW), but I appreciate everyone has different tastes, driving styles and so on.
I'm glad you like the Neros, but next time round give the GSD3s a try!

Re: 225 or 215/45/17 for my 147JTD

Rick,

From what I read on the thread you posted you are asking about M+S tires not pure summer or winter tires that are avaible in europe. PZero Nero M+S are avaible in US as far as I know...maybe in Uk they are similar regulations...dont know...

p.s:...tomorrow I have to clean bella so I will make pictures of new wheels and tires...I will write more tomorrow.

Take care all the best

Petko

No. I was wanting good quality ZR rated tyres which have to deal with everyday conditions.

Nice wheels, Petko. Can't you use the center caps on them?
