Are you a sun sneezer?

Does looking at bright lights, especially having the sun in your eyes, make you sneeze?

I believe it's about a 50/50 split of people who it makes sneeze, and people who it doesn't. Some of the latter can even stop themselves sneezing by looking at lights.

From conversations I've had in the past, it seems that a lot of people who don't sun-sneeze aren't even aware that it's a thing.

It's more scientifically called a Photic Sneeze Reflex.

Photic sneeze reflex - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I know it's a fact because it happens to me. Wiki is for information not proof.

Other.

I am aware of it, and if I am verging on managing a sneeze then opening my eyes wider and looking at/towards a light source can help to 'finish me off'. But just looking at the light source will not make me sneeze - you are weird!

Always been a sufferer of this, and it was a thread here last year which lead me to the 'medical' reasons for the infliction.

Oh right. I probably started that one too and forgot.

It's not generally an issue, but coming round a bend in a road to be facing a low sun can be a bit of an issue. Especially if there's another bend coming up.

I understood it to be a fair eyed phenomenon, i.e. more likely for blue eyed people? Not sure how true that is. I'm green eyed though My Dad has it and he's blue eyed though

What on Earth is it about this thread which calls in all the spambots? It's had 4 separate attacks in the last few days.

I do this! I often look for the sun if I feel like I need to sneeze.

On a related note: I've heard that saying "Pineapple" if you feel like you need to sneeze, will make it go away...
