Car Wash - Who does Yours

Just wondered what everyone does re carwashing - personally I either do it my self or get one of the "Quality" Hand Car Wash guys to do it - pre wash - handwash, dry, leather, door frames, windows in & out, paint the tyres all for £5.00

Re: Car Wash - Who does Yours

I'm basically lazy so have tried the local handwash. These are very expensive (£18 inside and out) and did a great job of making my interior shiny . After that I tried the local Jaguar conveyor wash, this scraped my front alloys and scratched the paintwork.

So now I do it myself, in fact have just finished a 3 hour clean and polish and she looks bella (must get a digital camera to post some pics ).

Always DIY. I remember someone had my company car for three months and put it through the car wash - the damage to the paint was terrible

Another DIY man here but I find the electric powerhose is an essential tool for doing it well and quickly

Never use a brush to wash your car (scratches paint) sponge and soapy warm water is the only job.

I wash it myself, when I can...

At winter I usually settle for a brushless automatic wash

Re: Car Wash - Who does Yours

I voted 'Do it Yourself', although at the moment ' Dont Bother - It will Rain soon' would probably have been more truthful.....my wife's using the car so much I'm lucky to even see it, let alone clean it!

Verde Artic is a great colour for the lazy owner - it never really looks dirty!

Re: Car Wash - Who does Yours

Try to wash both cars myself, though these days I don`t have much time so the cars go dirty for longer,or occasionally I use the Jet wash at the local garage. The bloody things never give you enough time on each programmee though,so you always miss bits! (Always blast the brush with a jet of water to rinse first, because people tend to leave them on the ground.)
Never use an automatic car wash.

Re: Car Wash - Who does Yours

I always do it, it's the only way I know it's been done properly! Getting tar and other rubbish off is a challenge though... Has anyone got any advice on which products to use to remove tar?

Cheers

Re: Car Wash - Who does Yours

Ah i have the art of washing the car off to a fine art - took me 50mins on my last wash to rinse, shampoo, squeegy, alloy clean & wax & followed up with a little bit of flash-dash to clean the interior. That was Friday - then proceeded to rain Saturday

Re: Car Wash - Who does Yours

I do mine. Usually I only use a presure hose at a local car wash (no brushs). First wash it with warm water and soap, then clean everything with warm water and finish with special water that helps to dry.

Besides, my dealership also wash my Alfa from time to time. They are very nice with me.

Never took it to a carwashing machine. And tht's why the pait is still very good. Except a light scratsh I've found the other day... probaby made at my school car park. Nothing that some polish wont take care.
