Ever see that episode of Father Ted where Dougal was driving the milkfloat? I seem to recall they did a 'Speed' take-off where it had to stay a certain speed, really funny

Re: Ever driven a milk float? - FAST......

Maybe not a Milk Float, but when I was a kid (About 14 I think) my mates father used to work for the Post Office. They used to have a little electric truck for taking the parcels too and from the station, (that was in the days when the post went by Train! ).

Anyway, my mates Father used to let us charge around the Sorting Office yard in it, it was great fun . I'm sure he'd be sacked for it now though

If I remember rightly the little electric truck came to grief at the station one day when it fell of the platform onto the fast line

It wasn't under our control at the time I hasten to add!!

Is a group H licence required? If so, wouldn't mind a go, as I've still got mine for a bit. Think I'll need it for the Middle East, or maybe a bit too old.

Nope.

My Missus will tell you that they are deceptively quick. As a consequence she mis-judged the pace of one of our 'turbo charged' local floats and hit it during a driving lesson.

Slightly off-subject but I've always wanted to drive a Dumper truck!

Think given the choice, with todays traffic, would prefer something with Chobham armour up front, approximately 18" or so thick! Fun in the rush hour, Yahoo!!

Just your common garden variety. Used to watch them when I was little and they were still building the rest of our estate.

Not saying I wouldn't like a go on the big stuff, just that my ambition for the past 30 yrs has always been to drive a (standard) Dumper truck.

can't say I've done much about fulfilling the dream. I think you can even do Dumper truck racing somewhere 'down south'. Wonder if someone has track days for Milk Floats too!
