Should 'other' always be included?

Am sure this has been asked before & yes I did search, but we know how good that is these days...

Anyhoo, should 'other' always be an option in polls?

On another forum I frequent (it's about skiing), there's a rule that every poll must include Cheese as the final option, or better yet, a specific type of cheese.
So you might get a poll along the lines of:

My girlfriend wants to get me a new pair of skis for my birthday. Should I ask her to give me:

Rossignol
Head
Salomon
Stinking Bishop

...of course, in that example, most of the males would choose option 2, but some people who don't have an opinion on the matter, or feel the question is pointless would go for 4.

My comments are just my words - it's your mind that finds the meaning you want to find.

On the other forum I spend a lot of time on, there's always a pie option.
