Re: Last book you read?

I really have to be in the mood for reading, otherwise I just can't seem to get into a book regardless of how good it is.

For some reason, I just haven't been in the mood to read for several months now.

Too much driving, I guess....

AR 146ti owners manual
So I voted for tech manual, but perhaps it should have been fantasy or other fiction
It's also partly in Italian,so it's a language text book as well. In the electrical chapter every alternate sheet is from the Italian version, must have been a slight mix-up at the printers

But how could one read multiple books at the same time...

and don't say that you are reading 2 or more books at the same time... as then the answer would be the last book you read from those

Tommy : The British Soldier on the Western Front

Bit hard going in places, but very interesting nonetheless.

Re: Last book you read?

The last book I read was "The curious incident of the dog in the night time", an excellent book well worth a read.

Now I'm halfway through Nelson Mandela's "Long walk to freedom". A book I've been meaning to read for a while, as I had no idea of why he was imprisoned for so many years and what the circumstances were.

Re: Last book you read?

Last one I read was David Owen's 'Alfetta GTV's'. For the second time, I was bored on a Train...
Last good book was Sebastian Faulks 'Birdsong', if you liked 'Tommy', you will love that Ricky.

Re: Last book you read?

Just finished the 'The Rise & Fall of the Third Reich' by William Shirer its a big old book published in the early 60's. The author was an American journalist based in Berlin in the years prior to the war and up to 1942. Some of these books that try and condense so much in one book are hard to read and just don't get you involved, this was different. If you want a book that covers how and why Hitler got to where he did and how he messed it all up definately recommend!

RicksAlfas - 'Tommy' is on my to read list, 'Redcoat' by the same author Prof Holmes was a good book.

Re: Last book you read?

At the risk of the Wrath of AO I have just finished reading Mein Kampf. Just something I always wanted to read and it is hard going but interesting. I do not envisage myself endeavouring to bring to fruition any of the ideals portrayed within so no need to worry!

I would be quite interested to read that too. How does it come across? Mad-pyschopathic-dictator-to-be, or economic-saviour-of-post-WW1-Germany?

'Winnie The Pooh and the Philosopher's Stone', not altogether what you might think it is. Very entertaining.

Re: Last book you read?

Given those choices he comes across as econonmic saviour! It is quite thorough in my opinion and an interesting insight in as much as these are his words about his life as he knows it. There are many principles that, if followed or instituted correctly, would keep a good world order especially in the times we live now. I don't mean the intolerance of the lesser races but the principles he has about the importance of the national identity and of the rights of the citizens therein.
