Butlins for me too... they gave away lots of badges and they
had those side by side tricycles that were made from cast iron

The games at the pool were fun.... and it never rained.... ever

I took the bairn on the water slide......I seem to remember it said "weight limit 17st" and he looked at me and I gave him a reassuring smile

we clambered onto a rubber boat thingy (a dinghy in fact) and dropped off the face of the earth

we reappeared seconds later in a perspex tube - I strongly suspect that as we whizzed over and above the heads of the splashing holiday makers in the pools below, we very closely resembled beams of subatomic particles in the hadron collider at CERN.

Butlins, Skeggie' 1947, Morning Campers, still got my lapel badge somewhere or other, the wee man in top hat and tails dancing on the globe? That'll be worth some cash in the attic? Never been to a holiday camp since. Did enough camping as a trooper?

Went to Butlins in Skegness a coupla of years back with some preconceptions, how wrong was I - we really enjoyed it TBH. Euan was in his element, entertained all day / night & that is half the battle when away with kids

Between 1999 and 2005 I had a holiday home at Haven Seashore, Gt Yarmouth when my twins were 6-12 year olds.........they loved it, which meant a chance for me to relax........

Butlins Skegness was our holiday for four years. We loved it. Where else could you let 2 kids go off swimming on their and be happy that they were safe. The only thing I can say about Butlins as a family holiday is don't knock it till you've tried it.
Oh and Howell is right, apparently those weekends are a blast. My mate goes on 2 or 3 a year.

Center Parcs FTW.

Most French sites used by Eurocamp et al are also pretty good.

Butlins/Pontins/Maplins etc all = "Hi-De-Hi pikeys....."
