I really struggled with this. In the end I asked myself which car I'd rather see on my drive. The answer to that is the DS.

I have a 159 and think it's gorgeous - but the DS is just such a cool car - I had to vote 159 though.

That front end on the 159 is spectacular.

I would have loved to have owned one, except from my perspective they never fitted an engine in it which was worthy of the looks. I never felt that changing from the GTA to a 159 would be an upgrade in terms of what I want from a car.

If they'd carried through with the 159 GTA idea it'd have been great - I'd like to have seen it with the 4.2 Maser V8 personally

But then there wouldn't be any need for a Quattroporte

I had to step back from viewing the DS through it's uniquely iconic lens. In terms of good looks it's actually an oddity that works. It most definitely is quirky, futuristic of its age, stylish etc. The 159's engines aren't a factor in the decision. It's about looks not necessarily appeal, or iconic status, or what have you. On that basis the 159 looks better. It's still a stunningly good looking car even though its age is bordering on that range where stuff should look dated and horrible before becoming desirable again ten years later.

I would love to be seen swanning about in a classic DS too but I'm voting 159.

I think that sums it up well. I don't think that anyone will be upset if the 159 goes through though.

Office Chair.

I really struggled with this.

I don't think the DS is remotely good looking. Unfavourable as this may sound it really does nothing for me.

The 159 has the best looking front I have seen on any car ever. The profile isn't bad but I don't believe it is the best looking saloon in profile.

We're on an Alfa forum and as such I really don't think it is fair. I think I'm in a minority on here as to the DS not being a striking design.

So ultimately although I hate myself for it I went 159. Hate because it is an Alfa forum and that is just not fair. Like, because it is a good looking car to me and in fact I think the Alfa 939 Spider is one of the prettiest cars ever, up with Miura, 288GTO, 250GTO, F355 and 458.

I have looked around at supposedly good looking saloons judged on the webz. I really don't see any of those saloons that make me drool today. There are OK ones (I actually like my CLA) but I would never buy one as my favourite car. It has to be convertibles (A4 convertible to my mind is a pretty car), coupes (many coupes make me drool) and last of all supercars and all of them along with a few hypercars.

I am hoping the 159 takes it based purely on no other car in the universe coming near it for front end beauty.
Typical.

I'm sorry I could not vote for the DS but the 159 is a favourite and I would be voting for it just because this in an Alfa forum if I went for the DS.

I'm not going anywhere, I'm just going.
Statements above are all my own opinion and not fact.

On a poll which is about which car you think is the best looking, you feel that you've been unfair by voting for the one which you think is best looking?

I think you might be over-worrying.

I probably didn't really get my point across in all the blah blah.

Alfa's should not be allowed because we're all biased. This is a point in case, the DS is an unusual and therefore notable design but the Alfa probably wins.

You really are worrying about this too much Malc. I contemplated not allowing Alfas but trying to decide the best looking saloon car without including two of THE best looking ones would be daft.

That's kinda my view so you're not the only one. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though because otherwise we wouldn't have the Juke... and the Citroens wouldn't be even close to the 159... (I assume the "getcoat" is a paid-up member one? Or I'm going blind...)
