World Cup of Films Group 2 PENALTY SHOOT-OUT!

Group 2 was tied with Where Eagles Dare and Star Wars on 8 points apiece.

I can feel the pent up barely suppressed wave of enthusiasm that will result in a tsunami of votes to decide the winner of this group!

(If it's a tie again Raging Bull wins by default )

It's a bit of a moot point isn't it?

It's like when people say "it's not racist, because it's not a race" - like it makes bigotry any better because it happens to not be aimed at a black person.

Not really, if we want to identify the target of the bigotry.

Otherwise, we'll end up with 'not like me' becoming a hate-crime.

Intersectionality is being made an issue in this case, which is a false narrative. Some people don't like the character (and like many performers before her, by extension the actor), not because she is an Asian (quite how that works in a galaxy far, far away I don't know) woman, but because the characters actions and motivations are at best, naive and contradictory and at worse, ill-thought out.

This is not the fault of the actor, probably the writing team, and because people seem to hate her, she must have performed her role very well for the sins of the character to be forced upon her.

...if wishes were fishes, we'd all cast nets...

As the instigator I'll chip in.

The geeks don't like the character and because they are so enabled and feel empowered by social media they can just vomit all over the woman with the most vicious misogynistic, racist bile they can muster.
Not the first time. Won't be the last. Happens all the time in the tech sector too.

I made light of it by mentioning it here, and hold my hands up to that, but it is a serious problem.
