Would Joe Calzaghe have beaten Steve Collins ?

In 1999 Steve Collins was lined up to fight a young Joe Calzaghe, but had to pull out on medical grounds.

Bearing in mind Collins wiped the floor with Benn and Eubank and pretty much retired at one point because nobody would fight him, would Collins have beaten Calzaghe if the fight went ahead ?

I think in 1999 Joe wasn't at his peak. Collins then.

If they were both at their peak it would be close, but I think Calzaghe would win it.

Those that understand boxing would know that as tough as Steve Collins was he was just not in the same league as Joe....

I can't recall Joe losing 3 fights

Joe would beat Steve on points or around 8 - 10 rounds....

I don't know anything about boxing I'm afraid.

I lost interest years ago when Ali boxed on when he should have given up

So I voted other

It was nice to see Ali admit to stalling and his corner tampering with the glove to give him more time to recover...admitting that he would have lost without his corners intervention...

Nice to see the man with humility and honour to admit to such a thing - rather than deny what most people knew

Other than fighting on for far too long, I have nothing but admiration for Ali. One of the truely great men of the last century

Collins was a legend, no doubt about it, but I recommend anyone watch Calzaghe against Jeff Lacey, IMO the greatest performance by any British fighter of the last 20 years.

As close to boxing perfection as you'll ever see.

Oohhhh....

I would vote for that HST - however for me the best fight ever by a british fighter was Nigel Benn's demolition of the alleged hardest hitting boxer ever in the game Gerald Mcclellan...this guy destroyed Roy Jones in the amatures...I don't mean beat him...I mean destroyed him...and we all know how Roy Jones went on to claim glory as a profesional

It is such a shame the fight ended in tragedy as it would arguably be the best fight ever to grace the ring...
