London Mayoral Elections

As we all know these are rapidly approaching - so to all you AO Londoners, who will you be voting for on May 1st?

More info here for those of us who are undecided! London Elects - Home

I wasn't allowed more than 10 options so you can't abstain - pick one!

Boris for me too I have a feeling he'll get a lot of support from students throughout the capital - those who perhaps wouldn't normally bother voting might make the effort to vote for him just because he's a legend. Funny business, politics

Re: London Mayoral Elections

I don't live in London so haven't voted, but would probably go for Livingstone, whether you like him or not, he sticks to his guns, isn't afraid to try new policies, and by and large, his decisions to this point have been good for London as a whole.

How can anyone justify a £25 congestion charge... I tell you what Porsche have my backing for that. It is grossly unfair..

Not a Londoner so haven't voted.

Don't really know any of the policies either so can't say who I'd vote for.

Re: London Mayoral Elections

Well I'm a Londoner and I'm voting Boris.

The power has gone to Ken's head and he thinks he's above everything. His 'regime' seems so corrupt.

Also Bendy-Busses are [email protected] - Boris was the one who originally said he'd get rid of them - and I now understand Ken say's he's not going to commission any more

Re: London Mayoral Elections

You should all vote for the first one who says they are going to abolish or at least reduce the congestion charge.

The congestion charge has been a success, anyone who drives regularly in London can see that.

People may not like it, but it's undoubtedly worked.

Re: London Mayoral Elections

Aye! But it's not a "congestion charge" is it? It's more like a pollution charge. A true congestion charge would be based on presence in the capital at peal times, with a multiplier for the car's physical size.

The Younger Mrs S. never gets stuck in traffic as her Cinquecento can nip through little gaps. When she does get stuck it's because a van or 4x4 or S-Class can't squeeze through a 5m wide gap, because their vehicle is too fat to fit.

Ken just hates cars and the CC is a failure because the lack of cars means it costs more to run than the revenue it generates.

Saw Boris on Newsnight last night, what a blithering idiot, you would have to vote for him though, would make life just a bit more interesting.

Exactly, Ned. It's the same reason we all drive Alfas! We can put up with a bit of insanity from time to time

Is that official government figures...

Most of those will be miles out, a bit like the inflation figure of 2.5%.
