Do you like ferrari?

Hmm I keep seeing posts about ferrari, both road cars and motorsport. I am quite interested in knowing how many out there actually like the ferrari brands, as there seem to be a few that despise them.

Personally with me, I am not just into alfas but anything automotive from Italy.

Re: Do you like ferrari?

I like the cars BUT I think Ferraris brand values are becoming quite egotistical, not something I like to be honest.

Re: Do you like ferrari?

I voted no. But that's not to say I have anything particularly against them, they just don't generally do a lot for me.

Re: Do you like ferrari?

I think the image of Ferrari took a downward turn in the 80's with all the yuppy's aspiring to own one

So now anyone that has one you naturally think the worst...

I would love one - but if I had the money probably not go for a prancing horse but more likely the raging bull

Up until about 1976 I think the cars are great, but their current image is dire.

I think this is about right, they're very brash - "look at me" above all else.
But then so is the Lambo!
You all know which classy piece of automotive excellence I would prefer over either...

The moment you hear one of those engines peeps, you'll soon forget all the concerns you may have.

I know Bazza, but would you go for a modern Austin Morris?

Don't you think they are heading a bit into knobsville too? An 80s Vantage is beyond reproach, but a modern DB thingy? It's just a bit fur coat and no knickers isn't it?

Re: Do you like ferrari?

Yes, I like them.

New and new-ish ones have got a rubbish image at the moment, but image isn't something that bothers me too much. Except for my carefully-cultivated 'not-bothered-about-image image'.

Saying that, if it came down to one or the other I'd probably go for a Gallardo before a 430.

You'll have to pay attention...cos it probably won't run for very long

A mate of mine works at a Ferrari dealership...they also do Mazza's and Lotus.... In his words "Ferrari's are expensive to maintain - which is a bugger because they need a LOT of maintaining and are driven mostly by [email protected]a's are pure........(i'm not saying cos BFsan is watching) lets just say build quality and reliability or the lack there of get a bit of a pounding.... and the Lotus's are great - he recons the best handling car he's ever driven (he worked on Porkers for a while too)

I like their road cars, hate their F1 team.

Whereas with BMW I can't stand their road cars/image - but I don't mind their F1 team

You're not wrong.
I wouldn't say no to a new one, but they're not a patch on the 80's Vantage.

Re: Do you like ferrari?

Modern Ferraris are dreary dull, like engineering projects on wheels. They've lost the Ferrari 'feel' They're all sterile and 'safe'

I do love 80's and early 90's Ferraris, but nothing since the F355.

Meh.

I've heard 'em. They're not as nice as an Aston V8.

A V12 screams like a histrionic woman.
A V8 (and yes I know you have one ) growls and roars like the king of the jungle.

If I think on this evening, I'll try to find the 5 second cip of me driving at Aston away from the church. If the noise it makes doesn't make you want one, you might as well give up and go buy yourself a Ford Focus

You are on my wavelength BF.

One of our places is out Chiswick way which is a bit la di da, and there are plenty of people with money in the business park. I have seen numerous porsche, Ferrari and even a Mclaren SLR. But once I was fourtunate enough to see a Ferrari Enzo stuck in the traffic, ticking over it sounded awesome but then the driver got fed up and turned down a side street. He nailed the throttle and my God!!!..... I have never heard anything like that. I think I may well have had a trouser accident

I mean the way they just mercilessly flog as much meaningless tat as possible for massive money because its got the prancing horse badge on it. Who want's a Ferrari toaster or a Ferrari pencil case? There's no soul in a toaster or a pencil case. If Ferrari wants to stay something special it needs to keep away from this merchandising crap.
