WCOC Group 5

These group sees British fibreglass up against a couple of real heavy hitters from Europe. Can the plucky Brits give those dambn foreigners a bloody nose? Only you can decide.

By the way, Chris Hendrix' cat's mate wanted a V8 Scim'. I have no idea if that one has that or the stock 3.0 Essex. It wouldn't affect how it looked anyway.

For me, I love all 3 cars but the only one I'd have a picture of on my wall is the Ferrari.

Am I allowed to vote for the Esprit even though it's an s1, and I think this is that rare car that actually got better looking over time? I think each prevailing series is better looking than the one before.

All things being equal, much as I respect the opinion of my cat's mate, I think I'd find it hard to put the Scimitar above the other 3 in this group in the looks department....
...but if I start to take into account relative costs (i.e. pulchritude per pound) then I can declare the Scimitar a clear winner

Incidentally, my relationship with Mrs Bazza nearly ended very early in proceedings when we were walking home from school, I pointed out a lovely Esprit, and she told me that it had "funny corners".

I agree. Each subsequent series looked better than the previous one, except possibly the very last iteration of the Esprit from 1993 where the rear might be a little bit off. Close-run thing between that and the previous one.

EDIT: Or the Series 3. Hard to pick. Not S1 or S2, though.

Compare that with the Alfa Spider, where Phase 2 looked a little bit less good than Phase 1, Phase 3 went totally stupid in terms of what they changed, until Phase 4 pulled it back a bit, but still not as good as Phase 1 or Phase 2.

Actually, she had EIGHT* (allegedly).
But, in spite of that awkward and surprising fact, I still like them

That's the first thing people who like Allegros Scimitars always say.

Okay I'll stop.

Let's not ruin WCOC with antics.

I don't even like the car much. It's just the law of the land that you have to say that. It's mandatory. Even in former colonies that don't recognise the royals anymore.

I do not like Mercedes design but as Greener says, this is an absolute classic.

The public prefers 70s beige. I'd not want to visit many of these peoples houses if that's the case

As much as I like the esprit and lotus in general, there is no way in hell the S1 esprit is better looking than the 300SL... it's a boring beige wedge v one of the greatest pieces of car design ever
