Butt-grapes aren't much fun but I hear you can get cream over the counter for them now.

Luve 'em!

On a rant at the mo, though. Supermarket fruit is sooooooooooo crap.

Under ripe rock hard bilge. Somebody should do something about it. No wonder we brits don't eat enough of the stuff - it's ruddy inedible at times.

Grapes on offer are now mostly one sour variety.

Love it when we go to Italy - loads of different kinds, bursting with juice and flavour.....Uve di fragola..(strawberry grapes) oh yes.......

Re: Do you like grapes ??

Too right Will.

We've just signed up with a local veggie box scheme that collects food from local farms and delivers to your door. No unripe mass produced crap covered in chemicals, packaged in a protective atmosphere and shipped from the other end of the world. Still have to get peppers and grapes from the supermarket but the local veg tastes so much better. It gives good smug satisfaction scrubbing mud off your carrots and spuds knowing it all came from local farms, and it's cheap too a £6 box contains more veg than the 2 of us can eat in a week.

... geez, I should buy a Toyota Prius and bottle my own wind to sniff at my leisure!

Good rant Will. Tesco 'fruit n veg' seems to last about a day before it goes bad. I wouldn't know where the nearest greengrocer is to me, they've all shut down. Luckily we've got a farm shop down the road. The difference in quality is startling!!

I know.

I really miss fruit & Veg shops. I can still smell that wonderful aroma you used to get when you walked in.

Still, there is hope. Thankfully in the ethnic areas of bigger cities there still seems to be an abundance of fruit & veg shops and stalls - So hopefully their cusomers won't become too Anglicised and slide toward Supermarket shopping.

Here in the sticks it's hard, but at least we can get free-range eggs from the roadside and seasonal root veg.
