Alfa Romeo has confirmed that two new models will be make it to the U.S. by 2017.
The company’s head for its North American branch, Reid Bigland, confirmed that the new sedan will be revealed in Italy on June 24 and will be on sale in the U.S. by the first quarter next year. Following the sedan model will be a new Alfa Romeo SUV that could arrive late fourth quarter next year or possibly early 2017. According to Bigland, the SUV model will target the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Porsche Macan.
The name for the sedan is still being worked out said Bigland, so there’s a chance that the Giulia nameplate won’t stick once it is unveiled. As expected, the Alfa Romeo sedan will compete in the same market as the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4.
“I’m confident that it’s going to blow your Italian socks off when you look at the specifications associated with this vehicle,” Bigland said in an interview today.
