Wave NAD 2012 at Newby Hall, Ripon

As most of you will now know, this years National Alfa Day is to be held on the 12th August at Newby Hall near Ripon in North Yorkshire. Unfortunately this clashes with the Hopetoun House meet at South Queensferry.

As NAD is a huge event (one that I've not been too as well!!) some of us thought it would be a good idea to travel down for a couple of nights of English Hospitality. Nothing has been decided yet, still at the talking about it phase, I thought I'd open it up to you all out there though.
Any suggestions for a base (ideally within 30 minutes of Newby Hall)??
How many would be likely to come along??

My own thoughts were to travel down on Saturday afternoon, have a nice meal somewhere, maybe meet up with some fellow AO'ers??
Have a day at NAD then back to B&B/Hotel for a few sociable drinks and a meal??
Then drive back up the road on Monday??

Does anybody have anything to throw into the ring, or are you happy with something along those lines??

I'd imagine we'd need to pull the finger out re Hotels/B&B's as they will be getting booked up in that area already.

Over to you............................

I took a look at some hotels and B&B's within a few miles of Newby Hall and they were fairly pricey or booked up so then looked at accommodation a bit further afield.

Ended up booking the Travelodge at Scotch Corner for the Saturday night and the Travelodge at Berwick Upon Tweed for the Sunday night - total price for the two nights £54.95.

I know it's cheap and cheerful but it's somewhere to lay our heads at an affordable price and Travelodge isn't that bad

have a chat with dave, spidermonkey as he is looking to organise a hotel etc, as there are a load of us down south coming up.....we did it a couple of years ago and stayed in harrogate....whisc is 30mins ish away love ly town too

the only downside was we were all staying in different places so would be nice for us all to stay together in a hotel with facilities or somewhere near to have dinner and drinks....

I'm not going to either as they also clash with a huge CitroŽn meet in Harrogate (4 day international do that I'm hoping Artois will be finished in time for )

We have a room booked at a B&B we have been to a couple of times before. It's called Hagg Bridge Farm, it lies to the South East of York near the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington. Excellent place with their own chickens wandering around the gardens. It's probably a bit further way from Newby Hall then most people would like to be but it needed to be done to get my wife along.

My plan is to drive there on Friday, spend Saturday wandering about York (this bit is for Maria's benefit), Sunday at the show and drive home Sunday night. They have a great park and ride system in York so there is no need to take the car into the city centre.
