Servicing

Post and share your experiences and comments for garages you have used for servicing up in the north.

Here are three I have used:

Arnold Clark - Aberdeen Fiat
Whitemyres Place Langstracht, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire AB16 6HZ
Tel: 0844 815 4022

Comments: No longer dealing in Alfa's but nevertheless a Fiat franchise so you will get repairs and servicing from technicians who know Alfa's pretty well. Customer service is sometimes questionable from my experiences and you get dealership prices.

A.W. Autotech
67 Ardarroch Road
Aberdeen
AB24 5QS
Tel: 01224 637274

Comments: Recently serviced my car here and they give a very friendly and knowledgeable service. Bosch approved. Prices are cheaper than dealership.

Amnycada Service & Repair
9, Pittodrie Place, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire AB24 5QN
Tel: 01224 631020

Comments: Have had various repair work done. Very good on price and good quality worksmanship.

To err is human, but you need an Alfa to really screw things up!

The road to heaven is paved with old Alfa's.

Re: Servicing

Used Arnold Clark in Perth for warranty work a while back. Usual AC service I'm afraid. Wouldn't use them again.

Had some diagnostic work done at Western Perth recently. Not very good at all. Wrong diagnosis and it cost me. Had used them before and hoped they would have improved. Pity actually as I used them for my SAAB service and they were brilliant. Maybe they will improve with Alfa once they get more established. Hope so, as the Edinburgh dealership have been good.

If I was looking for an independent I would go to CP Garage in Dundee. Euan is very good and work I have had done there has been first class.

Re: Servicing

Kirkhill Autos (Dyce, Aberdeen) - I have had good service from them and they have the all important diagnosis equipment. Bit pricey though.

Lochside Garage (Parkhill, Aberdeen) - I use them for general service work.

I am planning making the trip to CP Garage, Dundee for next service, including belt change. They have a good reputation with Alfas. Also appear to be good value from their quote to do the belt change. £400 v £650 (Kirkhill).

I was in recently at Western Perth and it turns out Stan (Master Tech) has left to work offshore! Not quite sure how that leaves the service dept for quality of staff but it's a pity as I always found him to be very helpful and knowledgeable on the GT.

I was also charged for some diagnostic work (fair enough, it is chargeable under 3rd year warranty) but they failed to spot the problem, despite it being a reoccurrence of one Stan had fixed under warranty with no issue 18 months ago!

Not very impressed with that so I'll be keeping a close eye on them in future to see if the standards go downhill.

Suspect I'll be taking it to Euan at CP if I keep it past the end of the warranty.

Re: Servicing

Have used Arnold Clark in Aberdeen when I had 156 and I have to say I found them reasonable. Did some work to the front suspension under warranty and were supposed to fit new brake discs and pads. Did the warranty work but forgot all about the brakes!

I then started going to Lawrence of Kemnay (in Inverurie) and have no complaints whatsoever.

Now have a 159 and need to decide about servicing etc. Would prefer to go to Alfa dealer but kind of wanted to avoid AC.

Garage
Not really needed much done in my short ownership so far but have used:

Smaky for my belt change (when he lived up in Lossie)

Kirkhill Autos, Dyce - sorted out my gear linkage but couldn't find the source of my leak. They seemed pretty clued up but pricey so I'll try and avoid them unless I need specialist work. Saying that, they gave good service.

After a previous Spider MJ recommendation I went there to get new brakes fitted. Very pleased with the price and service. I bought the parts on line and he fitted. I'll keep using them for most work.
