Moving to Inverness

Hi all, I'm moving from Aberdeen to Inverness in a couple of weeks and wondered if there were many owners up here?

Also, what's Donald McKenzie like as a service centre?

Re: Moving to Inverness

I live in inverness and have a 156, donald mackenzies are not the best to deal with. I bought my car from them and as soon as i had some trouble they didnt want to know about it, eventually got them to sort it but i stay well clear of them nowadays.

Re: Moving to Inverness

I got my car at Donald Mackenzie & I've never had any problems with them. I've always been able to get the car booked in quickly to get work done. But I have been told they haven't got a great reputation.

I'd be interested to know who you're using too Taffy.

Re: Moving to Inverness

Okay, all Inverness-Alfisti,

Let's take the bull by the horns and organize a meeting at the end of January. Let me know, so I can organize a well-suited environment, where we can have a great day, exchanging mutual Alfa-stories, tips, etc. Especcially, nearby a an establishment where they serve coffee, tea and food, ofcourse.

Hoping for overwhelming reactions from all of you.

What about the Highland food stop on the A96? It should be re-opened again by the end of January...

I don't know how many tips I'll be able to pass along your way though!

I'll go stick some Alfaowner flyers on the windscreens of any Alfa I see and see if we can drum up some new support!

I don't know the Highland Food stop, I do know the A96 and how about the end of January. How about Saturday the 31st, or something like that?

Re: Moving to Inverness

The highland food stop is on the right hand side just before Inverness Airport Roundabout if your heading towards Nairn. Don't know when it's going to be open though, will find out.

Re: Moving to Inverness

Hello friends,

I'm in a total misery: 2 days ago, I'm driving my 75 automatic and suddenly I notice that there's no accelaration anymore. Shifting from Drive, to 2 and 1, didn't help much. In the end, just no movement at all.... Called Donald MacKenzie's, explained them the situation, (probably clutch within gearbox) and got an estimate of around £500.. Is there anyone who can tell me more about the renewing of the clutch from the ZF-automatic? I can't do it myself, don't have the tools, not the experience working on auto-gearboxes... I also want to do some welding on the rear-wheel arch, the little hole in the boot and windscreen-sill. Is there someone you know, who can do a job like that, for a reasonable price? I mean, I'm not going to sell my 75, despite this all, I'll probably put it on SORN for now. Please Help.

Re: Moving to Inverness

Hi,

Thanks for your help. The 75 is towed away today to Donald MacKenzie-dealer for an estimate. My number is 07792970273.
Clearly, some welding needs to be done.
